haaha, I'm sorry. This is hilarious. We have the EXACT same problem with our Boston Terrier. She'll wake me up at 3 or 4 am, sometimes even multiple times a night to go to the bathroom, and either she'll go and then play in the backyard so I have to chase her down to get her in, or she'll decide she doesn't need to go, then wake me up 15 minutes later needing to go. It's ridiculous...I swear they know how to piss us off...they just LOOK innocent.

Far, far, far from good enough. Exercise, Discipline, Affection. Learn it or keep dealing with a frustrating dog.

Perhaps. I just don't get the fact that when you need to go you need to go. SO GO! He obviously does need to because he does eventually, he just needs to read a scientific dissertation on the appropriate place I guess.

Go ahead, ask him if he wants to go for a walk/run, play fetch or go for a swim

He gets plenty of all three. My fiance is with him all day. I play with him for an hour or two every night after work. In fact, he has passed his basic dog training, was rewarded most improved and canine good citizen, and is now enrolled in secondary obedience and agility classes. Agility he LOVES!

I guess what I am asking is why dogs need so much time to pick out their "spot" to go in.

The dog knows that he is in charge, and you will let it out when it wants. Basically it's fucking with you. Once you take charge of the situation it will do it's business and thank you for the opportunity. It's not about being a Nazi or anything, just about setting some boundries. Dogs are incredibly smart, and once they see you are the one who makes the rules they will follow. You never even have to get upset with your dog if you do it right, it's all about attitude (same way Mike Damone tames a bitch).
It doesn't matter if she cums, stays, lays or prays. ... Last edited by The Fridge; 08-16-2010 at 10:30 PM.. |
