Also I just wanted to say my take on Leia and her "remembering" her mother. I think in many ways Leia's connection with her mother through the force was the reason she was able to have some sorty of "memory" of her. Yeah I know her mom wasn't strong with the force but Leia was.
From her point of view at that place and time if she never knew she was adopted Bail's Wife WOULD be mother to her. We actually know very little about the Organa's so it possible that she may even die while Leia is young and that alone maybe Leia's memory of who she percieves as her mother. Actually I checked a little on Wookieepedia... Quote:
Queen Breha also served as the Minister of Education and it is unknown if she died or not in the destruction of Alderaan in 0 BBY based on Leia's recollections of "mother" some years later. Conversely, there is some evidence to suggest she may have died or divorced her husband when Leia was a child, as Leia spoke of being raised by Bail Organa's three sisters (Tia, Rouge, and Celly, whom she described as "three redoubtable dowagers" who "made her girlhood an intermittent burden"), rather than by any wife of Bail Organa.
FROM THE BEHIND THE SCENES SECTION... The theory that Breha died before the destruction of Alderaan is supported by Return of the Jedi, when Leia states that she was "very young", as opposed to an infant or newborn, when her mother died. If Leia did not know she was adopted, then Breha would be the 'mother' she refers to. Last edited by Owner of a Lonely B.A.T.; 08-14-2010 at 09:52 PM.. |

I have to admit that's one point I've defended for a long time Leia's memory of her mother is a valid line, from all we've ever known Leia never mentions she was adopted, she may very well not know at all until Luke points it out (hell Luke never put two and two together concerning a sister and his own father until someone else pointed it out for him), so her memory of her mother may very well be a memory of Bail's wife.
So my theory could be possible. Very interesting, I always figured Leia knew she was adopted because Luke askes about her real mother (Which I figured implied that she also had an adoptive mother) Also Echo's theory could be correct too since having gone back to watch that scene just now I see Leia says she only remembers images & feelings Now I'm just curious as to where Leia talks about being raised by 3 sisters (I'm guessing it was in a novel or something) |

I'll go on a Kurtz rant in a bit simply because where I agree with some of what he said some of it doesn't set well with me.
Anyhow to your point Shogi, I agree that Empire was perfect top to bottom as it was and Jedi ended well. Also I just wanted to say my take on Leia and her "remembering" her mother. I think in many ways Leia's connection with her mother through the force was the reason she was able to have some sorty of "memory" of her. Yeah I know her mom wasn't strong with the force but Leia was. perhaps the organas broke out the family photo album one day, and said "hey leia, these are pictures and images of your real mother" and thats when leia had the feelings.. |

read this kurtz interview last night, very interesting.
while he's right about the toys taking over, i don't see how killing han half way through jedi would have hurt han action figure sales. plenty of dead sw characters still get new action figures made. i think the wussing out of lucas is the real reason. it's hard for me to admit, but even while making the good ones lucas' mamby pamby-we-can't-have-han-shoot-first-side was coming through. shame. as far as the leia mother line in jedi not jiving w/ the prequels, well, it's because lucas seems to have not bothered watching the first 3 before making the prequels and/or was too prideful to hire/listen to a continuity editor. |

If you read the "The Annotated Screenplays" of Star Wars, you see 1) Lucas had no idea what he was getting into in any of the movies; 2) Major concepts that he declares as being rock solid from the beginning were at best fluid, or at worst, non-existent. 3) Some of the best ideas were created on set or, as Plinkett says on his commentaries, out of adversity.
The Today Show interview had one fascinating point: Mark Hamill talking about the prequels. I didn't remember that - I remember talk of 9 movies (a prequel trilogy and a sequel trilogy), but this was the earliest mention of the prequels specifically, and kind of how they would play out.

i'm a huge star wars geek and yeah...even though i know prequels are mediocre and clone wars is hit and miss...i can't help myself but check it out anyway.
i like the comics dark horse put out-some great stories and characters. ANYWAY. originally luke and leia weren't meant to be brother and sister, which is why it's so awkward in empire now. and that's why there's that line from yoda, "there is another". although i wouldn't have liked for han solo to die, the ewoks could have still worked better if they had been made more violent, perhaps. but what the hell, i love ewoks. what i don't love are the special editions and the dvds out right now. that is why I have to highly recommend Star Wars fan edits-the fan edits to the prequel trilogy are pretty good, specially those from Ady Wan. There is also a fan edit of A New Hope that is color corrected and with some extra "special edition" special effects and editing that is quite fantastic for being done by one dude. plus greedo rightfully shoots first! the obi wan/vader lightsaber duel is more exciting, the death star battle is more intense. you can find these if you type fan edits on google or you can watch Episode 4 - Star Wars Revisited for free on HD on youtube- the only thing that would make it perfect is if he had gotten rid of those two stupid new aliens in the cantina and left Lak Sivrak and the other wolfman. Stupid lucas.
