I've often suspected this but lacked the proof to go public with my suspicions.

Reminds me of everytime someone sees my collection for the first time. They are usually awed and amazed, or slightly creeped out that my collection could fill a Toysrus. I honestly don't know how much I have, but I can tell you its still not enough.

Something pretty cool happened today. As some of you know I just recently moved and now that we're in a big house again I finally have a loft area all to my own to display my toys. Well today we had some guy from this handyman service come out to fix some of our closet doors and when he walked upstairs he glanced at my Joes and then went on into the rooms to fix the closets.
When he walked out my girl and I were sitting on the couch in the loft and told him thanks for coming out...as he was walking past he glanced again and then said "That's a hell of a GI Joe collection" I told him thanks man I appreciate that and then he just kept staring at them...and gave me this look and said "do you mind if I...." I laughed and was like "By all means have at it" It was cool because he got up all close and was like aaah man I had that guy and that Fang and those Jeeps. Then he saw Zartan and was like "Dude do you remember when he use to change colors?" Then we started talking the old Sunbow series and toys and I said yeah I have the complete box set of the Sunbow series...so I put it on and he actually sat there and watched two episodes and bs'd about the glory days of the 80's and GI Joe. My girl was like "OMG, this is ridiculous...you guys are like a secret society of people who make up the universe" She said "You're handymen, IT workers, vendors, mechanics, graphic designers..etc" She goes it's crazy that so many people that affect our every day lives are f*ckin GI Joe fans! |

When stuff like that happens...I don't feel like such a Grown Man Toy Dork...and that's always a good thing...I remember they're used to be a stigma attached to people who played Video Games...and just look at how gaming has taken off, there's no shame in mentioning "I love running over pedestrians on Grand Theft Auto".
In the days past gamers were looked down on like some kind of Emo equivalent/or other Fringe type group...

I have crappy friends that either have no idea what I'm showing them in my toy room, or say, oh this guys cool, where's that transforming scooter he used to ride, or they start pointing to stuff they said they had as a kid but just came out in stores last week, or start naming characters that had nothing to do w/ Joe and telling me I'm wrong before i slowly tell them to get the f*)k out while we're still friends.
I have one friend who's cool w/ joes, he knows what's up, but the man has us toy folks all repressed like we gotta bow down to whitey and be good little conformists and not play with toys and... as if. cool story bro. but it did sound like the start of a porno there for a second. a porno with joe. destro's dominator...
