i just have a hard time believing that the marketing people at walmart who think "we" are stupid can be this lazy,i mean c'mon,i cant buy that these marketing people would think that this "strategy" would even half work, look, some people might not see through it but i doubt anyone with half a brain could not sniff out this bad marketing ploy a mile away, this reeks of sheer upper level suit and tie ignorance

The $6.97 for POC that I saw today was not a "Rollback", or at least there was no special "Rollback" flag anywhere. That is just the price.

I am going to put to rest all this walmart bashing.
Well put to rest may be a bad choice of words. In any case this is whats going on. Walmart is purposly raising its prices on gi joe. Same is or will be happening to other lines soon. Reason is this: Christmas shopping is around the corner. October or maybe a little sooner you will see these price brought back to 5.88 (or whatever they were in the spring). The consumer (remember walmart thinks we are idiots) will see an original price of 10 bucks and percieve the 5.88 as a bargain. They have been doing this for years. Its big corporate marketing strategy and it works. I seem to remember last year everyone bitchen about 25th being 8 bucks or so and praised walmart during christmas when it was dropped to 5.88 (or whatever it was back then). They do this every year. the irony of this thread is that Wal Mart just lowered the prices of Joes, and no, retailers don't raise the prices in anticipation of the holidays. you are simply making this up. |

And that's why I bought my figures at BBTS, Target and my vehicles at TRU.

Only a slight poor choice. Wal-Mart is a shit company that engages in shit practices, shit policies and treats far too many of its employees like shit. They aren't just retailers, they're bullies who use their status to control the market, demand prices, change the products of others, ignore the environment and the rights of their own employees and customers. That being said, I can't wait to get my Jabba the Hutt.

I used to think it was amusing that Wal-Mart dressed their minions in blue and their commanders (custumer service reps) in red. POC hit our Wal-Marts and at one store they were $6.97 but at another they were the $9.98 or whatever it was. I just think that $10 price point is a mistake that hasn't been corrected yet.

No reason to bump a THREE YEAR OLD THREAD for no meaningful addition.
