Best of luck to you bro. I quit last August but caved in around mid-February. The chemical addiction is gone after day 3, but the action of smoking is harder to beat. Keep yourself busy and keep in mind that a craving only lasts about 30 seconds then it's gone. I've gotta set myself up with a new date to quit again and give it another go. Think about the money you'll save and how many more Joes you can buy with it!!

The gum & water chugging are good tactics.
My last cigarette was May 23 of this year, so it's only been a couple months for me. I didn't have the balls for cold turkey, I took Chantix for 2 months. Had a lot of crazy dreams and was farting up a storm, but it really helped me quit. Best of luck, if I can do it, you can do it. |

I quit a little more than 10 years ago. My gf at the time and I were living together and really struggling for money. Once I realized how much we would save NOT smoking. I suggested we quit. She went APE-SHIT screaming/yelling/etc. (she was crazy and I left son after) and said that there was no way I could quit. I haven't had a smoke since. It actually now makes me mad when I see people smoking ESPECIALLY, when they do it too close to my son.

My wife had two family members on her side pass away from two different types of lung cancer. Keep up the good work!

Having a beer w/out the smoke is the hardest part. Funny thing is, I started smoking to cut down on drinking. It wasn't one of my smarter decisions. It actually gets worse the 2nd and 3rd day, but the 7th day is great...UNTIL you smell someone else smoking nearby... Just remember, if you really want to kick, you will and you have to kick for YOU not anybody else.

NO!!!!!!!
Don't ever go cold turkey on this. My mother-in-law did that back in 08, came down for a visit man she was meaner than little girl from The Exrocist. After she bit my head off under my own roof I was pissed at her ugly remarks. After a month when she visited her intake dbl-ed making up for lost time. |
