I come here for all my other advice so why not this as well:
I have a Westinghouse LCD screen model LCM19v5. The other day it stopped working. It will turn on for less than a second and then shut off. I changed all the wires and even hooked up a new LCD screen to ensure that it was not my computer. I saw this website and it recomended that I take the screen apart and look for damaged capacitors. I have attached two pictures of what I believe to be blown capacitors. What do you think and is the screen repairable? If no one knows, can you direct me to a reputable website? |

I had an old co-worker who replaced these all the time on old Dell Optiplex PCs. In fact, those exact capacitors! The part number is on the side of those I think. Google the part # and you should be able to find replacements. If you are OK with soldering, pull those old ones and re-solder in the new ones. We always considered those workstations on borrowed time going forward though. The LCD screen is OK, but keep an eye on its power supply and any funny smells it might put off after you do this.

Skrew Westinghouse!
I bought a 32" LCD in April 2007. After two days the sound went out. I called the customer service line and they said take it back to the store and they'll give you a new one. I got the replacement and I thought cool, good customer service. Flash forward 1 1/2 years and the picture starts "rolling" vertically every once and a while. Then it's everyday after an hour. Then it gets down to I can watch 10 minutes and then the picture rolls and goes black. It's sat in the closet since. I have never had a major piece of electronics break on me in 20 years of purchases. To have the two of the same TV break in 1 1/2 years is unforgivible.

Judging by the way those capacitors look, it may be too late...

Yeah, your problem is that it's a Westinghouse. Had the same thing happen to me.
