So my job was supposed to give semi-annual compensation this year. Once for the first half of the years performance, and once for the second half. Incentive is based on performance, and I've always performed well compared to my peers.
So I booked a 5th Anniversary trip for my wife and I to Hawaii based on the lowest possible incentive I would be eligible for at the midyear point. And I performed well enough that I should be eligible for a mid or high-range incentive payment. And, I accepted a transfer to a different place, one which is much more challenging (read:I work longer hours), but was supposed to be a great career move and the incentive model was supposed to be better. Well, wouldn't you know, they announced that because of the transfer, I'm ineligible for a mid-year incentive payment, and have to wait until January for a whole-year 2010 incentive check. Great. So now I have this trip I need to pay off, and have to figure out how to continue to make it to the end of the year without the payment I was guaranteed at the beginning of the year. Oh, and then I found out my excrow payment went up like $60 a month. And I found out I needed new tires, at about $400, and don't have an option because the ones I was using were way past the point of being illegal. And then last week, my refrigerator started acting all crazy, wouldn't hold a temperature. Finally got the bill for the repair after the guy came today, and it's another $350. Not even sure when I'm going to even begin to be able to begin paying some of this stuff off, but likely not until freaking 2011, apparently. So hey, if you see a guy fleeing a bank with a bag full of money.... it's not me.

That's complete crap on your company's side! At my last job, I transferred 3 times (well, the last one was forced on us) and our evaluations were based on the time you hired in. Granted, the management always were a few months late on them CONVENIENTLY enough! Sure Boss, hold off on my raise ANOTHER month! I didn't WORK for it or anything! (deep breath!)
Anyway, sorry to hear that. |

sorry to hear that. that's the thing with this economy, a lot of bosses know they can dick you around and make you work harder for nothing. they figure your only other option is unemployment, and there is a long line waiting behind you to fill your job if you complain. i hope you get better hand dealt to you soon man.

as far as tires just call around and grab a used set. shouldnt be more then a 100 for a set (car) or maybe less to get you by till you can afford new ones.
Ive been doing that now for over 4 years (truthfuly i dont save for new ones. when the used set wears out i just buy another) look at them before you buy them to make sure they dont have any sidewall cracking and you are fine. like i said ive done this for 3 vehicles now and have yet to regret it. And I drive ALOT for my job.
