Just wanted to remind those with young kids to be extra vigilant when you are swimming this summer.
I just had a good scare a few minutes ago while my family is at the community pool in my subdivision. My daughter likes to go swimming almost everyday during the summer. Normally, my wife takes her, but today I tagged along. There was this little boy who wasn't quite tall enough for the 3 1/2 feet area. Anyway, I looked up from browsing Hisstank, and I noticed him struggling to keep his head above water. Apparently he had just floated a tiny bit away from the steps and he couldn't swim back to safety. I yelled to my daughter to grab him as she was within arms reach, but she is only 7 and she paniced. Before I had a chance to jump in with my street clothes my wife's friend jumped in and pulled him to safety in time to keep him from drowning. If I hadn't yelled out and if my friend hadn't jumped in the boy would have died. As I mentioned I normally don't even come to the pool most of the time, but for some reason I went today. The stupid thing is the boys Mom was literally sitting right at the edge of the pool where her son was swimming, but she was chatting with another Mom and didn't even notice me yelling at her about her son. The father was in the pool but was too far away to reach his son in time. I'd say another 30 seconds to a minute and he would have been gone. So, even though you are with your kids and "watching" them make sure you are really paying attention. My daughter is a good swimmer as she has been taking lessons for about a year, but today I was scared straight and will pay more attention. |

AWESOME Save man! Way to go!
But, one thing to remember, if the kid does finally go under, you can still go get his lifeless body and do CPR on him to revive him. The Brain doesn't stop functioning up to about 5 minutes after you stop breathing with no heart beat. You have more time if the person is only not breathing.

Agreed, my best friend was on a boat yesterday and she turned her back for a second to grab something and my 2year old neice jumped into the river. She heard the splash and jumped in and got her immediately.
Pools and stuff would freak me out if my kids couldnt swim well
