when i was a kid, here in white plains, Ny we had this HUGE toy store called Toys and Sports Warehouse TSW for short. it was AMAZING. better than any toys r us, or child world would ever be or was.. i wish i had pictures, every isle was dedicated to a certain brand. one entire ginormous isle of gi joe and vehicles and playsets, the next isle was star wars , the next he-man and so on. sadly they closed down many moons ago. I don't see toy departments lasting that long in stores anymore. kids are more into technology and videogames.. toys are becoming a thing of the past, much like spinning tops. with more and more toys not selling and making the clearance list.. im sure department stores will continue to cut back on their toy departments. until one day..its just baby toys. if you look now..certain companies have already started something new..with certain brands. mattel for instance with their he-man classics line. toys will be geared more toward collectors i think..and only sold online... thats the way i see things going

I don't know - the only thing I like more than finding something in the wild is getting mail.
I love getting a new package in the mail. The mailman is like Santa to adults. |

Speaking of getting mail. When I go to the PO to mail figures to fellow Tankers, have any of you ever been in line and seen a small box or bubble mailer and thought" I wonder if there is some Night Force figures or an v1 SS MOC in that box going to a Joe collector.
I guess latley when I go to the PO, I see all these boxes and packages and think, "I bet there is some cool toys in those boxes." |

U.S. TOY INDUSTRY SALES GENERATE $21.47 BILLION IN 2008
Toys aren't going away anytime soon. Even in one of the worst economic years in recent memory toy sales didn't even drop 1 full percentage point. Action figures aren't either, though the specific brands the children of the 80's cling desperately to may eventually go the way of the Dodo or morph into forms unrecognizable to them. Kids are still into action figures...just not "our" action figures. Interesting note: http://www.npd.com/press/releases/press_100114.html Video game sales in the US dropped 8% last year. So actually the Video Game industry lost ground to the toy industry in 2009. Contrary to the apocalyptic predictions by folks here that video games are the death of the toy industry. |

Thanks for the fresh of breath air Jmacq1. I bought my son a Buzz Lightyear VHS movie because I can't find the Buzz Lightyear cartoon (not TS, TS2) on DVD. So now for his birthday he wants the little green alien toys for his birthday. Hooray! he wants toys/action figures and not video games |
