i love beer. it took a while, but i truly enjoy the way it tastes after drinking it pretty regularly for 20 years now.
my faves are the bitter green bottle european beers- grolsch, staropramen, becks, peroni, etc. love sapporo, too. domestics- budweiser (truly the king), pabst blue ribbon, and, because my body forced me to find a light beer i could tolerate, miller lite. outside of those 3 i pretty much can't stand american beer. if given the option, 24 oz. cans are my weapon of choice. i just like the way beer tastes out of a can best, and 24 oz. is the perfect amount, enough to not have to reload too often and not enough to get hot at the end. |

I can't stand the taste of beer, black jelly beans, or licorice. That acquired taste thing is bullshit. If you don't llike something after tasting it twice, it's not for you.

I'm not sure I understand your thought process here...
Part of the enjoyment of beer comes from the thought that not everyone likes the taste? I guess that makes sense. Do you think the same is true for black jelly beans? I know my friend switched from Reds to Newports when we were kids so I wouldn't bum butts off him anymore... is that kind of the same thing? It's funny you use black jelly beans as an example. My mother loves them, and I can not stand them. I know it adds to her enjoyment because when there's a bowl on the table she has the one's she likes most all to herself. I don't think the same is true for beer though. If someone brings an assorted Sam Adams 12 pack to a party I think most people will just grab the first bottle in front of them. I find looking at the label and choosing what best suits my needs at the time whether it be an Amber, Pilsner, Ale etc to be part of the fun and allows my enjoy it on a different level. I'm really not trying to sound elitist (although I am sure I'm coming off that way) There are many nights when a mid grade domestic, drank in large quantities is just as fun, if not more so.

i thought the same way about coffee for years, but eventually it grew on me. a big part of acquiring a taste for something is wanting to like it in the first place.

I love beer for its many flavors. Some of my favorites are Bellhaven, Anchor Steam, Heineken, XXXX Bitter, Smithwicks, and Guinness (on tap). Just like wine, there a beer that matches well with different food, occasion, or mood. I remember on one deployment I missed beer so much that I had dreamed about drinking bud light. Too bad I don't get the wonderful side effects from beer anymore. Now It usually makes me feel bloated or my face feels puffy the day after. Unless I'm eating, I usually stick to liquor.

I dont think beers so much of an accuired taste so much as you just find flavors or brands you realy enjoy. For me the best "dinner beer" would be a nice tall Killian's Red, but for just screwing arround on a hot summer day bbq Coors dose just fine. That said though, I def think bottled beer is way better than anything from a can, but of course on taps the best all arround.
The absolute best, perfect beer I've ever had in my life was from Australia, I belive it was called Carlton Cold, another great one from over there was Victoria Bitter (VB) |

Well I love black licorice and black jelly beans, my coffee needs copius amounts of creamer and sugar and I hate the taste of beer. I've tried a few different kinds, Ales, Microbrews, Cheap ass Nat Light, etc... Once I liked a regular Budwiser, but it was only that one time. Blue moon is bareable.
Now if you drop a pitcher of fresh from the tap Woodchuck cider in front of me, it's a whole other story |
