I didn't even have a second of doubt in picking anyone on the list but Hogan. There are certainly more talented wrestlers, both in the ring and on the mic, but you simply can't compare Cena or Austin to Hogan. If you're talking popularity among wrestling fans, perhaps, but characters like Hogan, Andre the Giant, and Randy Savage transcended wrestling fandom. Your grandmother probably would recognize Hulk Hogan even if she never saw a minute of pro-wrestling. She may even have liked him at some point purely for his charisma or his 'prayers and vitamins' message.

And people, let's give a bit of respect to the man who helped put not only Hogan, but all of American Pro-Wrestling on the map. By taking a loss in his retirement match, he gave Hulk Hogan the boost that launched him into the stratosphere. The worth of a hero is determined by the rivals he must face, and no wrestler, not Austin, not The Rock, nobody had an opponent like Andre the Giant.
And yes, he did give Hogan the win. Anyone who knew Andre Rousimoff knew that he was actually MUCH stronger than he looked, and had to be extremely careful not to hurt his opponents too badly. He could have easily gone out on a win, but chose to give something back to the industry that made him a star and give a push to the new generation. |

And yes he did tell Hulk to do it. |

I read something where Hogan was afraid that Andre wasn't going to let Hogan win. He literally thought Andre, who was regarded as one of the nicest guys in the company, would pin him legit or hurt him on purpose out of jealousy. I think that gives some insight into the kind of power hungry dick Hogan is.

This thread is making me go on Youtube now. Especially for the international matches. Flair vs Antonio Inoki was epic. Not often you see someone not only survive, but defeat Flair's Figure 4. He was almost in Hogan's league when it came to working a crowd. |

Well, it was supposed to be his final match, but in all fairness we've seen 15min retirements in all sports.

Have to look him up. I just saw Hijo Del Santo (the real life son of El Santo) and Octagon vs Eddie Guerrero and Love Machine, but a lot of the match was missing. :(
