Last night I was surfing the net and googleing random things, which I sometimes do. I stumbled across a random sounding website name, and Lo and behold, it was a child porn website. There were images if children being violated. I was horrified, my jaw literally dropped and I placed both hands over my mouth, my eyes began to water. What is even more horrifying is that the site provided links to dozens of other sites that were similar. I turned away in disgust.
I thought this is supposed to be illegal. I always assumed that there are government agencies that search for these kinds of sites and shut them down. I realize that trying to completely eradicate them is impossible, and I realize that some of these sites are foriegn and perhaps out of the jurisdiction of US authorities. It just seems, based on how prolific and brazen these guys are, that there isn't much being done about it. I know that as a nation, we condemn this kind of evil shit, so why aren't these websites being destroyed? Guys, I see no reason why this should be the basis of an argument. We should all be on the same page here. |

throw away your computer now, no erasing that off your hard drive when the FBI traces your IP.

I agree, anyone involved in this type of shit should be castrated with a pair of dull and rusty hedgeclippers and hung upside down by their toes.

There are registries you can report the sites too... they might not be able to shut them down, but they can at least report them to search engines and service providers to get them blocked. And they can hopefully get police investigating... let me see if I can find one for you.

If you encounter child pornography either online or through the U.S. mail, here is how you can report the crime to the proper authorities. If you encounter child pornography on the Internet, you can report the site address to your Internet Service Provider and your local or state FBI or Customs office listed in your telephone directory.
You can also report child pornography online by forwarding the site address to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) at cybertipline.com. NCMEC will forward your report to the appropriate investigative agency for follow-up. |

I think if he wasn't saving things to his hard drive (and obviously he wasn't)... he should be okay. Just clear your cache... If he's reporting it I don't think they're going to bust him. And if no one takes action then these people are going to be able to keep doing what they're doing. |
