I'm sure you we've all had crappy jobs at some point in our lives, but have you ever had one that even though maybe the pay sucked or the work was unbearable...you found that you were actually having the time of your life there?
It could have been friendships that were made that could still be in effect to this day or maybe it was a just a summer job that you'll remember forever because you hooked up with the hottest girl that worked at TRU during that time. So what were your sh!tty jobs that turned out to be great times in your life?

Groundskeeping at an oil refinery - I got to drive around in a pickup all day, got my first exposure to confined space safety and fire training, maintain and use a whole shitload of sweet mowers and trimmers, and massacre ground squirrels in the spill field behind the tank farm on rainy days with a converted .22 AR-15.

Oddly enough-not really following the title of the thread but after SIX YEARS, I still have nightmares about my last job.
Fucking idiots that I worked with and the crap I had to deal with. |

Burger King. Worked there for around 3 years during school. The job sucked but I don't think I've ever had more fun working somewhere. Didn't hurt that my best friend of 25+ years worked there with me, same hours, same shift. Oh the crap we got into at that place....

I guess for me it was working at the shipyards. It was hard, dirty, laborious work. I was a sheet metal apprentice working on Navy ship refits. I would have to be at work at 6 in the morning (4 if I wanted a decent parking spot). I'd be so tired that when I got off work, all I wanted to do was have a cold beer and fall asleep watching Star Trek TNG. On paydays, some of the guys from the shop would go to this ghetto liquor store to cash our checks and then have a few beers at the bar next door. It was my first "real job". I only had it for about 8 months and quit to join the Navy. But I don't know what it was about that job, but at the time, I hated it. But when I look back, if I wasn't so young I could have probably had a long career at the yards.

US Army Infantry, from 2004 - 2009. Two deployments to Iraq, and I can't say those were the worst times. Infantry garrison sucks - most people go AWOL because of the treatment and lifestyle there than down range. It's extreme "high school" - bullying, popularity contests, backstabbing and field trips. I went in expecting a professional atmosphere and ended up with precautionary measures for the inept and retarded (two hours early for a 6 AM formation because some slackers couldn't make it on time) or unofficial punishments meted out for personal offenses (Nothing beats a smoke session because some NCO thinks you might have been disrespecting him in your THOUGHTS).
Luckily I avoided alot of the BS, but you can't escape it all. I made some of the best friends I'll ever have there, and though I would never ever do it again, I can't say I'd UN-do it if I could. Tom

Please stop talking. The amount of insider information that you have is exactly zero.
Know how I know this? Because you posted a declassified flyer which was meant for fun as a NEWS ITEM. No one would ever tell you anything because the VERY FIRST THING you would do is post it here. Probably incorrectly. |

i worked a few years at a theatre, as an usher and projectionist. The pay was atrocious, which was why i had to quit, but it was the most fun i have ever been paid to have. I miss it daily.
