This is such a great thread.
When I was 21 I started working at STS as a "C-Tech" which translates into "shop idiot of the automotive industry". I broke my ass there--I mean if anyone ever asked me to work as fast and as crazy as I did there, now? I would laugh and leave--the manager was a NAZI and for some reason I always thought I was gonna get fired--I busted tires off trucks for 9 hrs a day for horrible pay. Then.....the manager left. Then guys started filling latex gloves with gas from oxyacetelene tanks and wrapping toilet paper around them and blowing them up in the woods... Then I made friends with a guy who ended up teaching me as much as he could about mechanics--is STILL my friend to this day. We stayed afterwork in the fall and had touch football tornaments. Another guy I became friends with used to test drive cars--and on garbage day he we would take a car, go around the block and ram into empty plastic garbage cans on the street. 6.50 lousy dollars an hour--it sucked but I made friends, had alot of laughs and learned alot. |

I spent two years working as a mover for Allied Moving and Storage. I was paid like slave labor but used to have a blast. Met all kinds of people, was in awesome shape and loved lot lizards.

The pay was pretty good but damnit did I hate that. Probably because at the time I was sweating out pure Jagermeister and was parched for 10 hrs straight. Good times. |

I used to be a PR writer, pay was decent but I'm on call 24/7 which sucked. Met a lot of nice people, the meanest of the mean - the usual office politics. Then I met my husband at work. My incentive for not quitting work.
