I went down into my collection room today and as I was about to sit down at the computer a snake slithered out from under it and back behind the shelves. Does anyone know if there's a snake poison or tong like snake catching device I can just buy at the store? I can't go back down there and work knowing that things right next to my feet.
and before anyone puts their opinion on "don't kill the snake" in, I don't care, i'm not asking for opinions on the life of the snake, I'm asking advice on how to catch it. It's dying. period. |

You can get a pair of garbage picking tongs, I think they sell them at home depot or lowes. and a pillow case, should be able to get it that way. When you pinch it with the tongs try to get near the head as much as possible so when you go to put it in the bag it doesnt reach around and bite you. Thats how I do it at work. Wear a long sleave shirt as well as gloves. Good luck.

Mongoose.
Its probably harmless. To kill it, try to grab it by the tail and then whip it like you would a towel. That will break its neck and kill it instantly. You really should just try to set it free in the woods or some shit.

Rat poison is probably your best bet. Remove his food source and he will remove himself. Either to find food elsewhere or die from starvation. Does your area have animal control? They will remove an animal from your home free of charge in this area at least. Another option would be a humane society or maybe some sort of local reptile lovers club to help ya out. For fuzzy critters the humane society will give you traps to use for free. Granted they are for relocation elsewhere on earth as opposed to heaven.

You could also call Animal Control/Pest Control, and have them deal with it.
EDIT: Whoops, CdtWeasel beat me to it. |
