Sorry to hear you got screwed. I would suggest that you make your next mower purchase a John Deere. They are an excellent piece of equipment and their parts and service are top notch.
Oh yeah, I almost forgot. I would like to take this opportunity to extend a warm welcome to our new member searscares. Welcome to the tank.

I will say I am impressed. Last night I emailed SearsCares and they called me this morning. They offered me a $25 gift card, which I said I would accept, but that I wasn't planning on buying anything from them again. He did tell me that they do not refund shipping, and I told him that the shipping was just a small insignificant piece of the story. I told him the whole story, and he apologized, gave me his direct number for future troubles, and a $50 gift card. I was hoping they would have some insight as to why my mower quits when the motor gets hot, but oh well I am ditching my craftsman first chance I get.
I never thought to ask if I can use the gift card at Kmart....

I agree!

i am by no means defending sears when i say this. But that "customer is always right" line is terribly old thinking and pretty much total crap. Having worked a lot of customer service jobs in my life, i can say that. Some people will demand things that they have absolutely no concept of what they are asking for. Before you even have the chance to correct any problems, some people go off the deep end because they spent their money at your business. I understand the expectation of good service and of not being ripped off. But some people use money as an excuse to disrespect people in the service industry. Others just flat out try to scam the retail business because frequently they can.
The customer should always expect good service, but they are not always right. That said, sears screwed the pooch on this deal.
