I have a suggestion:
Write up the story, scan any relevant info or include emails, and send the whole thing to Consumerist.com. They go with this kind of story all the time and often get enough attention that companies take notice.

Let me tell you, as a blue collar guy with a small rubbish removal/demoliton business I go to Sears, Home Depot etc all of the time.
You know what? They all suck elephant asshole. No one knows anything, no one really cares, they're all "seasonal" so if you need trim line for a weedwhacker and its sept or oct--you can forget it. As time went on and it was never ending battle I got better equipment, because we do own and use alot of landscape equipment. Best thing I ever did? Buy some used commercial grade brands and go to the "little guy" for parts. Costs a bit more but if he says "Tues at 11 A.M."--the part will be there. I don't wanna get into politics and economy--but your problem is what the f'ing deal all over is nowadays. You take a car to a mechanic, its a crap shoot. Some 19 yr old kid who watched too much Monster Garage is making 6 bux an hr and knows nothing--save for the book work he learned at 6 month technical school. The guy who had a gas station and a 3 bay garage that knew his craft and took pride in it can't compete with the big chains. If that happened at your local hardware store that dude would make it his life to fix it for you, unless he just didn't care. Unfortunatly, it's like this now. |

Buy a John Deere mower. You can get parts for their stuff for a long time from parts suppliers once the mower is out of circulation. I've bought new unused parts for a 15 year old mower once online. My new one is always easy to find stuff for too.

When you get rid of your craftsman, park it in front of the Sears that gave you so much trouble, throw fertilizer on it and set it a blaze. Make sure you put a giant sign that reads FUCK YOU SEARS!
That's what I would do. I'm thinking of leaving bags of shit on the front door of my credit card companies too.

I'd dispute the charges. That's ridiculous. I'd be cussing that motherfucker out on the phone so bad! And I NEVER get upset on the phone. Something like that would set me off. I ONCE cussed at a cargo delivery guy once and shit got taken care of right away. I didn't call him an a-hole, but a "why in the fuck..." is helpful.

The problem with Sears is they don't want to keep people around for very long. Home Depot's corp. sucks ass, and that's why they can't keep people around. Plus, neither pay very well so they don't attract professionals like they used to. Why would Mr Contractor quit making good money to earn $8/hr working retail? Too bad I don't work in that industry anymore, because I woulda gotten this all straightened out for ya.

Ever tell someone in customer service to stop apologizing because they don't mean it? And then they apologize again.
