The United States Postal Service has released the following postage cost
changes: *The price for a one-ounce first-class stamp will increase from 41 to 42 cents effective May 12. *Consistent with the new law, prices for mailing services will be adjusted annually each May. The Postal Service plans to provide 90 days notice before the price changes each year. How can you manage the increase for your personal mailing needs? The Postal Service developed the Forever Stamp for consumers to ease the transition during price changes. The USPS is encouraging Americans to buy Forever Stamps now for 41 cents, because like the name suggests, they are good forever. Purchase them now, because like first-class stamps, the price of the Forever Stamp goes up to 42 cents on May 12. The Forever Stamp will always be available at the price of a first-class mail stamp in effect at the time of purchase. There are no limits on customer purchases. The Forever Stamp will be available in booklets of 20 through www.usps.com, by calling 1-800-STAMP-24 and at Post Office retail counters nationwide. Customers may also purchase the stamps from selected Post Office vending machines. Some Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) and Automated Postal Centers now offer the Forever Stamp in sheets of 18. Also, many participating convenience stores, grocery stores, drug stores and other retailers also sell the Forever Stamp booklets of 20. The Postal Service has sold five billion Forever Stamps since the launch in 2007 and the plan to have an additional 5 billion in stock to meet the expected demand before the May price change. Please keep this increase in mind as "you" purchase items online. |

Wonderful. Higher gas, higher postage, higher everything. My income isn't getting higher, though.

That would be a good topic to discuss when it comes to pay raise eval time.

For me that time is the end of April. Evaluations are done with. The company already screwed everyone on that telling MGRS not to give out ratings higher than 3.2. At the end of April I will have worked here for 2 years and 4 months. I gotten raises but I want a promotion from production 1 to production 2. Most places/departments give out that title after one year. My manager has not said anything to me about it and she gave me a horrible review after 6 months ago getting a fabulous review. Sorry 'bout that. I hope your jobs treat you better than mine. And we (the consumer) will bare the burden of this yearly postal increase.

The average American hasn't had a raise in relation to inflation in over ten years. I have been very fortunate in that I received a 12.5% salary increase in 2005, 14% in 2006, and 20% in 2007, but most people haven't been so lucky. With the current financial situation in America, things are likely to get worse before they get better.
