Do you ever think that Chewbacca and Luke Skywalker ever talked about their connections with Yoda.
I bet it went kinda like this: _______________ Luke: So, I like a great Jedi now. Probably the only one left. Ever. Chewbacca: Oh yeah? I knew some Jedi's back in the day. Luke: Really? Prolly not as great as me. Chewy: Shitz, I knew Yoda. I used to give that fool piggyback rides. Luke: You knew Yoda? Doubtful. Chewy: Uh, yeah. Little green dude, big ears. This cat walked with a cane, but get this, he would go straight crazy on some fools. Jumpin and spinnin around and what not. He was straight up crazy. I mean, dig this Luke, you kinda OK as a Jedi. What I'm sayin is, for someone with no formal training, you alright. But Yoda... Yoda was a great Jedi. _________________ Thats the way I picture it anyway. I'm gonna eat some spaghetti. I think what kills me about the whole SW thing (and don't get me wrong I am a HUGE fan) is that R2 knows EVERYTHING. He's basically been there since pretty much the get go.

More like this:
Luke: "So you knew Yoda the whole time and didn't tell me?!" Chewwie: "RRREAAAHAHHHHHHHHCCGGGGGG!" Luke: "Huh?" "I don't speak Wookie." C-3PO: "He says you never asked.... BEEEEEAAAACHH!"

Yep. R2 is a sneaky little bugger, and doesn't even have the benefit of memory wipes as an excuse.
Of course, the prequels made it really bizarre for the post-RotJ novels and comics and such, since eventually they had to figure out why the heck R2 never told Luke and Leia about their mother (he did, eventually, and to the writers' credit it was at least somewhat treated as "yeah we knew about this way back and just never really talked about it" so that R2 didn't come across as a huge jerk for no reason). The perils of writing books before the prequels and all (when nobody knew who Luke and Leia's mother was, etc...). Though one of the comics ended up having a nice little scene of Yoda and R2 talking to each other (well, more like Yoda talking to R2) while Luke was off on some errand Yoda sent him on. Kind of a "behind the scenes" thing during Luke's first stay on Dagobah. As for Chewie and Yoda and Luke...it might have been a while before Chewie realized Luke had met Yoda. Luke was kinda doing his own thing then, after all. Last edited by Jmacq1; 05-28-2010 at 08:50 AM.. |

How did R2-D2 escape getting the memory wipe? Wasn't it Bail's idea to do it?

In my wacky post-ROTJ crossover that combines Star Wars, Masters of the Universe, Transformers and GIJOE into one nerd curry, R2-D2's consciousness gets transferred into an X-Wing Autobot body and he can finally talk and tell people about themselves.

This all puts a whole new spin on the scene where Obi-Wan and R2 are reunited in ANH. While both Obi-Wan and R2 might not have immediately recognized each other (R2 units being common and Obi-Wan having aged about 30 years in the last 18), Obi-Wan's later insistence that he doesn't own R2 (though in hindsight, he doesn't say that he never knew R2), becomes a subtle reminder to the droid that he needs to stay clammed-up for the time being. Actually I think another excuse they used for R2 being less-than-forthcoming even after RotJ is that because R2 had never been memory wiped, his memory actually gets "jumbled" at times. He's sometimes like a hard drive that's never been defragmented. |
