The Trials and Tribulations of Eddy Curry -- NBA FanHouse
Eddy Curry of the Knicks, NBA player. He's got a 60 mil contract and no money. How does that happen? He's had it rough, but seriously, how do you make that much money and then burn it? Borrowed $585,000 in a loan with 85% (85%!!!!! WTF!!!) interest. Make 11 mil or so a year, what the hell do you need $585,000 in loan for? $4.5 millon mansion, kids go to private school, $6000 a month personal chef, $17,000 in monthly rent, $30,000 in expenses and $16,000 to hanger-ons/family. Seriously, you need money here's how: -Get rid of the luxary cars (he reportedly couldn't name all the cars he has). -Get rid of the personal chef (there's $6,000 right there, if you can't live off of $6k a month, you seriously need someone to hold your hand, go move back with your parents). -Get rid of the 4.5 millon mansioin. -Get the kids out of private school. -Tell the family to take care of themselves. -Ditch the leechs that you call friends. -What do you need $17k in montly rent for when you own a 4.5 millon dollar home???? Wow...

Come on now, we've all been warned to stay away from pay day loans.

The rent is in NY where he sits on the bench (I refuse to say he plays there). The house is in Chicago, his home. I can understand wanting to take care of your family, but they don't need luxury housing. The cars...that's a huge one. He has a Phantom (had, lol). Don't blame him for private schooling. Dads making bank, gets robbed before, ex-girl killed, I wouldn't want my kids in public school either after that stuff. He has kids by multiple women, so I'm sure that doesn't help. And a personal chef...hmmm. Not doing too well, he's still overweight. Mom should move in with him and run his finances and cook for him. Heat win the custody battle for the baby of the woman who was murdered.

I can understand the private schooling for security, but if you're broke and needing money, corners need to be cut.
I think the personal chef is doing too good a job, lol.

This is why I abhor sports.
First of all, no job is worth that much. Second of all, sports are not a job. Third, paying professional athletes (and movie stars, and musicians, and CEOs) this much enables all the worst and stupidest of human flaws. Fourth, unless you're actually involved in the game being played, nobody else needs to get involved. Get up and play or go home, but don't stand there and yell at somebody who fumbled or whatever while you're shoving food in your face. TRILLIONS of dollars are dumped into sports every year; money that could be used to solve significant problems, like feeding and clothing homeless children.

I saw this story yesterday. $1,000 cable bill?! I'm not sure how that's possible, or why you would do that.
Kinda crazy that I busted my ass to get a degree in physics, and now I owe a ton in student loans and make less than 0.5% he does. =) Last edited by Brcall; 05-27-2010 at 01:06 PM.. |

Well, if the term "Cable Bill" is just a vague title, and it's actually a satellite service, you could have a bill that high with enough equipment. or with enough OD Adult programming purchases.

similar story happened to Antoine Walker. along with a host of others.
the truth of the matter is, many of these athletes are not well educated. they have qualified people run their assets, thus a big payroll. to top it all off, there's the influence of modern pop culture. the music. the lifestyle. the clothes. the casinos. the vacations. the bling. the women. it adds up pretty quickly. especially if you can barely count your beans. |
