Well, maybe not expert advice, but proven experience maybe? I dunno.
I'm getting divorced and I have everything I own up. it's been a couple days and I'm already up to $4000 so I'm happy about that... my question is, how much does bidding go up in the closing seconds? like, is there an average out there or something to the point where if bidding stops at $80.00 for a day or two you can expect it to go for around $200? with an average of 4 days left on everything, is it realistic to expect around $8000 or do things not usually double like I think they do? Also, if something has 57 watchers does that mean it's going to go really REALLY high? Any help is appreciated. Here's my stuff if you want to see it. whitefox360 items - Get great deals on Collectibles, Toys Hobbies items on eBay.com!

The bidding can go up and normally has the most activity within the last 24 hours of an auction and especially can within the last hour or so ... but not always. It's just like a normal auction you would attend (art, car, etc) depends on who wants it and how much they want to pay.
It's hard to get a gauge for how auctions will turn out. I have seen some go high for items that could have been bought cheaper with a buy it now but people like to bid and win stuff. I have always had a lot of people watching my items and that could be two types of people: Those who are interested in buying it and those who have something similiar and want to see how high it goes for their own records.

also you may want to consider breaking up some of thos lots you will get wayyyyy more money and with the larger lots shipping will kick your butt.I would personally end the auctions and re list them seperately or at least charge for the shipping costs.

Sparks, do you mean break up the larger comic ones or things like the GIJoe set?

wow, it looks like you're already doing alright for yourself. the Lego SW Death Star auction should do you nice. not to mention a few of the others.
i agree that you'd stand a better chance of making your mark by breaking up some batches, but then again, from the looks of it, you have quite a few interested bidders already. if you say you have 57 watchers on one particular auction, then that's just remarkable. last second sniping is known to shoot up bids considerably, so you have that possibility too. eBay is a crap shoot. we all know that. someone out there is going to get a great score at a great price... and someone will crazily overpay. |

So it's really good that everything I'm selling has between 30 and 60 watchers, then?

If you really have $4000 worth of bids, the first thing I would do after they end, if I were you is pay those ebay fees. Its 9% if you are doing auctions. Paypal fees will be on top of that. I would have listed everything seperately, because shipping those lots is gonna eat you alive. You will not make a profit on this. There is no way.
good luck. Holy crap, you are gonna need it. |

Cool stuff! But as it's been stated certain things are going to obliterate your profits.
1. Ebay fees. If you had listed individual items, you would have had to work more, but the fee's would be a lot less. 2. Paypal. Don't forget on top of the ebay fees, you have to give paypal its cut! 3. Shipping *cue horror music* I can understand using the free shipping option to drawn in bidders, but gah. You're going to be paying out the poophole to send some of that stuff. I hope you do well, you have some good stuff, and yes a lot of watchers is a good thing. Expect the initial bids to come from Ebay newbies. No Ebay pro worth a damn throws a bid up before the last 10 minutes of an auction. Unless it's a Buy It Now I don't try to bid until the last minutes.
