My advice is :
Can of Gasoline + A book of matches Now poor gas all over the car and then light the book of matches then throw the book of matches on the car, and walk away Fixed

havent read through yet,ac pump, maybe messes with power steering, probably one belt.my ac pump started going on my pontiac and it chirped a bitor rack and pinion? or,its a plymouth, couldnt resist.yes i own a pontiac but back in 96 pontiac was still a good car, unlike past 4 years being junk. now i aint a mechanic either, anymore a ashtray bearing will mess up a fuel injection systen when it comes to cars.yes i mean that literaly.:p

Anyway. First, you will need a flash light. Look at the belt. Is there one? If its cracked up, its just wore out, if it is frayed, there is a pully/tensioner issue. A broken harmonic balancer will eat your belt alive. Look at the power steering fluid level and look at the pump for leaks. It is entirely possible that your rack seals are wore out and it is leaking down there. You can tell if you have the wheels off, USUALLY, but sometimes the boot will hold the fluid, and you wouldn't know it was leaking there unless you poke a hole in the boot. If the fluid is low or gone (it would be making a loud ass noise), then fill the sucker up and see if the PS starts working again. If the AC bearing was bad enough to stop the power steering from working, the car probably wouldn't start unless the belt was slipping big time. The squeal you here when turning could be the power steering, ball joints, or even the strut mounts up front. For the squishy brakes, it probably has air in the system. Check the fluid level. DO NOT TOP it off, until after you find where it went. Check the brake booster for signs of the master cylinder leaking, ie, the big black donut is wet under the MC. I would start looking for leaks at the back, personally. Wheel cylinders blow out all the time, so that is the 2nd place I'd look for a leak. Your car is 15 years old, so some brake hose expansion could be making your brakes squishy. If they are cracked, replace them. If I were you, I'd take it to a Firestone. Get somebody who has been to the CVI class to go through it. Bring it to me, I'll do it. I write up $3,000 worth of recommendations on free oil changes all the time. I'm not out to get anybody or anything like that, I just work in a ghetto ass store, where I have to cover my ass and notate every freaking thing I see wrong with the car so the customer can't come back and say I fucked something up. Happens all the time. Never happens to me because I write stephen king novels on all these cars. Except enterprise. Hell, they are the only ones that bring us new cars. Everything else is literally beaters. Who knows, if you catch somebody slipping, you might get your shit fixed for free. I've seen it. |
