Can anyone explain to me what takes FOUR business days to get money from my BANK to friggin' Pay Pal ?!
I REFUSE to leave a balance in my PP account b/c the tried to f*ck me a couple of years ago b/c a paid for a handgun to a gun dealer (a FFL - Federal Firearms License - requied by the US Gov to legally sell guns in this county), a perfectly LEGAL act BTW :(, and froze my then "account" and seized my bank account I was using for them then also, all b/c this was against "their terms of service" - NOT against the LAW, US government, or even the f*cking CONSTITUTION!! Anyway......... So Sat I transfer funds online from my bank account to my second bank account I now use ONLY for Pay Pal (done online, same bank mind you - Bank of America), and then turn right around and tell PP to fund my PP account from my bank account like I always do. Now if you do this but fund your PP account from a CC instead (credit card), this is like a one business day turn around kind of thing, and then $$ would have been there by like Tues am at the latest. So if the $$ is physically there by midnight Tues am (12:00 am Tues) one way or another at the most, transferred internally in my bank, WTF takes another TWO days then to get it to PP? But they can get it from a CC in two days?! :( My $$ is PHYSICALLY sitting there in the f*cking bank for Chr*st's sake! :( I HATE PP, but there is NO other alternative that is universally recognized and accepted in the online world, and of course now f*cking E-bay will NOT allow you to even pay w/ a cashier's check or certified bank check, as the USED to, which was the easy way around this. :( F*cking A! FOUR Godd*mn days to get $65 from my bank to PP, when the $$ was in the bank all the time. :( PS. And before anyone says it, NO, I will NOT leave / carry a balance in either my PP account or the second bank account I fund from to keep this from happening, so as PP can not try and seize my funds again if I don't fit into their "communist manifesto" again. I bet if I had been ordering porn or videos of sex w/ farm animals they'd been or ok, but GOD not and EVIL FIREARM !!!!!! :O F*ck Pay Pal and f*ck E-bay both. :( .

I suppose the bank deposit process is like depositing a check. They need a few days to clear the check.
Credit cards are different though. When you charge, the credit card bank foots the bill automatically. The amount you borrow becomes a payable asset for the bank. Therefore, if something goes wrong with your transaction, the credit card bank has the incentive to go after the seller, because of its asset holdings you created when charging using your credit card. Banks don't care who deposits money in your account-they're happy to take everything...but transferring money out is a very secure thing and they'll make sure it's not someone else taking advantage of a glitch by holding and checking everything first. Besides, the money you keep at the bank they flip into CDs and investments themselves, they make between 5-20% on your account...they're in no hurry to let you have your money!!!!
Credit card rules are different when it comes to fraud protection, so they operate differently. I keep the Paypal balance in the account to track my Joe and other hobbies budget, withdrawing it only if needed to cover Joe and other hobby expenses. Of course, I don't work in firearms either! I bet you had red flags popping up all over the database for that one! LOL! |

No, would you believe PP did NOT pick up on it until it was a done and over with deal, like SIX weeks later! :O They were like, "well you broke our rules, so we are locking your account and freezing you assets in your bank account!" and I was like, "yeah, well guess what, I got the $$ from the sale of the gun out of the account the day after it cleared, so there is like a $0.30 balance in there now, so CHOKE on it! Hahahahah!" I forgot about that part, so the joke was on them. F*ck you PP! I DID have to go create another bank account, ANOTHER e-mail account, and ANOTHER PP account though (ONLY so I can use E-bay though, mainly for Joe stuff . Other than that, I don't use PP at all anymore, and anything I do online $$ wise like here, I try to use either a cashier's check or money order and no one has had a problem w/ that yet (plus PP does not hit them for a fee then for handling the deal). Other than that online wise, I just have a second debit card set up to the second Joe/toy account, and just use it like CC for places like BBTS and what not. E-bay is the only issue still and if they'd take debit cards (like they USED to take CCs) they KNOW PP would be out of business. :( Again, f*ck PP. :(

I'm sure you'll find this useless information, but my paypal is linked to my credit card. This way I keep $0 in paypal, and when I buy something it charges my card instantly. No waiting for "cash" to move around.
If you are worried about PP seizing your card, how about opening a no fee credit card with interest only and using it for pay pal. Pay money from your account to your credit card immediately after you make your purchase to avoid interest charges. It’s the best option until there is an alternative to paypal. - Ian |

I always wonder what happens to the money for those four days when it isn't showing up in my PayPal account and hasn't posted in my Checking Accounts. Does it go on Holiday to Rome, is it earning someone else interest or is it abducting cows in Nebraska for weird ritualistic murders.
I just don't know. |

Paypal will never admit it, but my banker told me....they make any excuse to "hold" money during transfers and such to build their daily bank for higher interest yields.
That's right folks, they make money off of our money every way they can. 4 days of interest to us is nothing, but 4 days of interest on the millions of dollars in their account is substantial.

While I know paypal can be a pain in the ass, the alternatives online can be much worse. I'm still waiting to be paid from google checkout. They closed my account without warning or reason (yes I know usually people like to complain there's no reason to bitch, but literally I couldn't get an answer as to what reason they closed it) and you can't call them. Period. They have no customer service, everything is done through incredibly slow e-mail correspondence. That's one of paypal's closest competitors. The alternatives I don't trust enough to even think about switching. Paypal can suck, but after this many years it's a predictable suck. If you know the ins and outs you can afford most of the pitfalls (like paying for a gun). If you're not willing to educate yourself on what an online payment system does or does not allow, you're opening yourself up to be taken advantage of when you don't dot all the i's and cross the t's. I also understand that for most people, they don't deal with paypal enough to have the time to worry about those things, so it's hard to even follow that mantra. The good and the bad of that site seem to balance out for me. I've been scammed out of $500+ in the last six months by international buyers who know I can't prove shipment on a first class mail international package and chargeback as soon as they receive it. But at the same time, paypal has refunded me payment on $500+ in the past six months from fly-by scammers on this site and others. |

Doesn't Paypal put your money into an investment fund? Maybe it they have to submit paper work for that?
