OK, so for those of you at the con or who were following the con coverage already know, Lody got a speeding ticket while volunteering to take Death Adder to the airport early Sunday morning.
For those of you who don't know the story, Death Adder was put in a bit of a spot Saturday night unable to find a ride to Logan Airport. We were about to start up a taxi cab collection for the long ride to get him there, when Lody stepped up and volunteered to take him. I was relieved cause I was already late getting out the door, so I figured the situation was handled. Unfortunately, Lody got pulled over in a tunnel/off ramp on his way to the airport and got hit with a $325 traffic ticket. I don't think someone who set out to do a good deed for someone in the community should get burned so hard for doing it (granted speeding is a conscious act, but come on, we all speed some way or another and he was rushing the guy to the airport). So me and some of the other guys thought we should get together and make a Help Lody fund to help defray the costs a speeding ticket he got trying to help someone out. We're not asking for much, but five dollars here, five dollars there all make a difference. We can help wittle that $325 down. Staff Edit Please PM Roshan for paypal info. It isn't safe to have that in the open. Every little bit helps. When you send it, make sure to send it as a gift so neither side has to pay fees since it is a fund raiser for a good cause. Thanks for any help you guys can give |

It's been ages (17 or 18 yrs) since my last speeding ticket. Unless the procedure changed, I was able to lower the ticket fine by appearing in court and completing the class afterwards.

Some of you European tankers can probably attest to this better than I can, but in some countries, isn't the ticket based on how much income you earn? I remember a story of one really rich guy in Finland who had to pay a 1 million dollar speeding/reckless driving ticket. |

Anyhoo, I can feel for Lody. I don't know the guy, but I had a decent weekend of eBay sales so I may as well share some of the karma. Small donation sent. |

Every state is different, I know I've been able to get court supervision to take it off the record, but I still think I had to pay a bunch of court costs for that.

Also, if I remember correctly from talking to Lody, he lives in Texas now. Unless he's flying back for court he's kinda screwed that way. So let's skip the drama, some funds heading your way sir.

You can no longer lower the ticket cost by appearing in court. If you haven't had a ticket in awhile you used to be able to ask the judge for deferred adjudication and only have to pay court cost which I believe was around $50 and not get another ticket in that county for 90 days. Plus it would not go on your record.
Now when you ask for deferred adjudication, you have to pay the ticket in full and it doesn't go on your record and still can't get a ticket within 90 days in that county. Which sucks.. I'll see what I can throw together to help out.. had an inch thick piece of metal go through one of my tired yesterday and had to buy 2 new ones.. : (
