Dude, not to sound like a jerk but 70% of the new comic art is terrible! There was a time when you had to have some sort of artistic talent to draw comics!

Being a teenager and reading Youngblood, I fell in love. They are still one of my favorite teams behind the JLA and X-Men. I know he is a d-bag in real life but I always liked MOST of his over the top artwork back then. But yeah, as a person, he can go eff himself.

Liefeld's popularity, IMHO, seemed to coincide with an overall emphasis on dramatic art for art's sake, as opposed to art working with plot and dialogue to form a story. In particular, the over-emphasis of art over story and plot. Liefeld sort of became the focal point of those complaints.

Meh... I just never liked his artwork or his titles. And maybe the reason why he had so many cause they wern't of the quality that the other guys at Image were pushing out
And while I never had the chance to meet him in person, everything I've read or heard about him makes him sound kinda' like a douche. The only thing he really had going for him was getting Signed to Marvel at what? 17? 18? then a year later (exagerating) went with the top dogs and created Image...then what? He just wishes he could be Lee, or Silvestri

Troynos, don't get me wrong, as an artist I hate to ever put someone else down but here is my opinion regarding comics!
either.... Good story, bad art ( Aliens earth war anyone?) Awesome art, weak story or better yet.... Awesome art, awesome story! Considering books are anywhere from 3-4 dollars a piece now I have to be more selective. |
