AMD's new AM3 Socket Black Edition 6 core Phenom II processor?
I've got an AM3 Quad Core black edition, and it kicks a serious amount of ass, what's your opinion on the 6 core? http://www.pcworld.com/businesscente...ing_power.html Newegg.com just put these bad boys up for sale. Not as intense as an i7 but close to it, and the price is a hell of a lot better. I use to be an avid intel user, then around 3 yrs ago i switched to amd and noticed the load balancing was way different and felt alot smoother compared to intel, ive been happy with the switch and my wallet ever since.

Nice. I've been an AMD proc user for close to a decade now (the 5 year old 90 nm Palermo on my utility PC is as zippy as it was when I first got it), so it's good too see them keeping up with Intel. But what I'm really waiting for from them and their partners is a low-power consumption mobile package that can compare to the NVIDIA ION (Intel Atom + NVIDIA 9400M combo) in terms of graphics performance.

i'm waiting for 8 cores
ive been on the intel wagon and currently have 2 rigs with the i7 975 which at this point i wont need to switch just yet i would say if you are doing a system build there isn't much to compare with that AMD especially when you shove a ton of ram and either SSD in raid 0 or at the very least a couple of velociraptors of course you cant leave out SLi (still prefer its stability and software support over crossfire) although all things considered...if your rig is cutting it currently then i'd wait just a bit longer but as you and others know the hardest thing to do is wait |
