I'm not worried.. the security guards won't care what you're name is, just "stop that guy!" when they are chasing you with your hands full of sample POC prototypes.
Cell mate Bubba may have a different take though.. He likes to pronounce your name as shy guy-er.

I don't know if this was Gyre-Viper's inspiration, but the most notable use of the word gyre is from a poem "The Second Coming" by W.B. Yeats:
Turning and turning in the widening gyre The falcon cannot hear the falconer; Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold; Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world, The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere The ceremony of innocence is drowned; The best lack all conviction, while the worst Are full of passionate intensity. Surely some revelation is at hand; Surely the Second Coming is at hand. The Second Coming! Hardly are those words out When a vast image out of Spritus Mundi Troubles my sight: somewhere in the sands of the desert A shape with lion body and the head of a man, A gaze blank and pitiless as the sun, Is moving its slow thighs, while all about it Reel shadows of the indignant desert birds. The darkness drops again; but now I know That twenty centuries of stony sleep were vexed to nightmare by a rocking cradle, And what rough beast, its hour come round at last, Slouches towards Bethlehem to be born? For Yeats a gyre is the representation of the passing of history from one age to the next - represented visually as : The idea is the end of an age is depicted as the widest point of the cone, where the narrowest of the second cone also exists - representing the beginning of the new age. The Second Coming was written shortly after the end of WWI. Taking away the Christian Imagery, the poem speaks to a beginning of a new historic epoch were the old norms/rules are no longer applicable and the belief something terrible (not in the scary sense but in the "big" way) was about to occur. |
