Is that what they have at the Pilots' Lounge? I think I got my one and only copy at the Duty-Free when I was going back to the US. After that, Internet happened and reading wasn't so necessary no more

They were a few months old, and packaged together 3 for $4.99 at a gas station by my house... I have no idea who would have sold them new... I quickly transitioned to VHS... |

My friend can't believe I still have a VHS cassettes and a VCR. He just doesn't understand that I have a few choice scenes from Red Shoe Diaries, Beverly Hills Bordello, and a few other Cinemax fare that are just classics now. Except that there are "tracking" problems in some places.

The Black Company
never read any of the other ones related to that series but that one book was great.

This is kinda old, from the 90s, IIRC. But I've re-read Dragonlance Chronicles Vol. I-III and Dragonlance Legends Vol. I-III several times. It's my all-time favorite paperback trilogies. It reminds me of LoTR.

Yup, old school TSR was great. I think those came in 84/85. If you liked those, check out R.A. Salvatore's Icewind Dale Trilogy, it should be right up your alley!

For fantasy it is George R. R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire series. Seriously; best written fantasy ever... you literally cannot stop reading.
For sci-fi... I will have to go with the Otherland series by Tad Williams. It is pretty much a cross between a conspiracy murder mystery and The Matrix, except it was written before that movie ever came out. |
