The Toys R Us holiday stores at the malls last year were used as a test to see how they would do in that market to replace the KB Toys locations.
I don't know if they have finalized any plans to set up permanent locations in malls, but I'm sure that they will try it out again this holiday season.

I miss KB as well.
As for the Toys R Us Holiday stores, they still have one open at the Mall of America in Bloomington, MN. A few regular items, what I would call over stock items and clearance goods. |

KB was always overpriced and I always avoided it. Youre better of with WalMart/Target. And for those hard to find figs, EEEEEBAAAAYYYY

That's what I was thinking today... why doesn't TRU replace KB Toys in malls? I mean I'm sure with their inventory tracking they can get the most popular merchandise and concentrate in a small mall store. With data mining nowadays, they should be able to make these stores successful.

There is no more KB Toys in any of the malls where I live which is sad. I used to frequest the one in my local mall so much that the store manager would hold new items for me so I could have first crack at them. I miss that kind of service.
What I don't miss though, is the two to three dollars more per figure that you wound up paying. |

toys are like seasonal products, they're not year round products that people buy.
besides, a brick and mortar toy store would carry a greater selection.

Malls in general are plummeting down the tubes all around the country. Everyone has realized they can get almost anything they could get at the mall cheaper at Wal-Mart, Target, Kohls (for clothes), or online and don't feel the need or even have the cash to put up with inflated mall prices.
The way things are going, we might well see the death of the "shopping mall" in the United States within the next 10 years or so. |

The mall near me used to have a Toy Circus, KB Toys, that's the two i can remember. Toy Circus was cool. It was competing with Toys R Us that was just up the road from the mall same as KB Toys. Well now Toys R Us is a Babies R Us. And there's still no toy store in the mall.
