ok cool. I'll definitely look into Tom Strong then. Quote:
yeah I put them off for so long. Quote:
I wasn't too into 'Watchmen' as a whole. Certain aspects of it I found to be captivating and highly original... but as a whole for some reason the graphic novel never appealed to me.

If you haven't read his run on Swampthing you might like that as well. From Hell is also a good read. |

I gotta tell ya, League of Extr. Gentlemen "The Black Dossier" is, imo, WITHOUT QUESTION, the worst tripe Alan Moore's ever written.
It was his "I'm Alan Moore!" moment. The moment when he decided "It doesn't matter WHAT I do, I'm Alan Moore, I can pull it off." It's crap. It's self indulgent crap. The first two volumes, though? Definitely worth reading.

OH! Trust me man he's written worse than that. You just haven't come across it yet. You might want to stay away from his one offs and indie stuff.

I've read "Lost Girls." In fact, I briefly owned it before getting a full load of it, then I BURNED IT AND SENT IT BACK TO HELL. Actually, no. I just sold it to a used book store. And gave them a fake name. So. Awful.

TeeHee! That stuff just a little bit of fluff. You should read some of his H.P. Lovecraft mythos short stories. Then you'll have something to be freaked about.

The basic order of the comics has been covered earlier in the thread but for the sake of repeating it goes as follows:
Vol. 1 Vol. 2 The Black Dossier Vol. 3 Vol. 3 entitled "Century" will be 3 oversized issues and only the first issue, "1910," has been released thus far about a year ago. Issue 2, "1968," was supposed to come out right around now but according to Top Shelf's website, it will be a 2011 release with the third issue, "2008," arriving in 2012. Vol. 1 and Vol. 2 were 6 issues each but are readily available in TPB and hardcover format. The Black Dossier was only released as a hardcover and TPB. Vol. 3 will be 3 issues and will in all likelihood be released in a collected manner. This series is one of my favorites despite the lengthy wait times between issues. |
