I live in FL and last week (4/14), I went to my local comic shop and New Mutants 12 was short ordered, so I went to 9 other shops and finally gave up. I went online and nowhere i am familiar with had it until I remembered a shop i frequented in AZ a few years back. The shop is Atomic Comics, 4 or so locations. I never had problems before this.
It was last wednesday, I ordered 3 comics, New Mutants 12 (new for the current week), Uncanny X-Men 500, and X-Factor 28 (current series). All were listed as new, NM condition. I received my package today. It took 10 days to receive and shipping was 11$ It was ridiculous in my opinion. When I opened my package, all were bagged in scruffy bags, Uncanny X-Men 500 had spine damage, and a bend in the corner that was creased to a white mark. X-Factor 28s spine was fubar, tears nearly to the staples top and bottom and sticky back cover. Finally, New Mutants 12, a book that was released the day i ordered it, bend in the upper left corner and fingerprints thru the book and a few misc hairs inside. I called them as after 7 days of no response and they "forgot my order" Within 20 minutes i got a confirmation via email and a bogus shipping number. I called them today when i discovered my packages condition and they said as is no returns unless incorrect. I told them of the damage and I wanted new copy of NM12 and its now out of stock. I find this to be unacceptable and I hope some of you can use this info to save yourselves some trouble or disappointment

I go to the Atomic in Mesa all the time. Never had any problems, but again I'm buying locally at retail.

I used to get stuff sent from Lonestar in Texas and never had an issue. They did an AWESOME job with shipping and it wasn't expensive.
They'd take all the comics, bagged and boarded, and put two pieces of comic size carboard, top and bottom, then tape it tightly together. That all went into a comic sized box that got stuffed with packing styrofoam things. Loved it. No damged books. And the price wasn't bad at all.

Yeah completely uncool. Might have been someone new doing the pulling as (at least at the Mesa one I go to) the staff there is too knowledgeable and cares too much about comics to do something like that.
