Is it even worth it to sell your Toys and expect ANY kind of profit?...I've got Toy lines ranging from Marvel Legends, Joes, Star Wars, Transformers and on, all MOC too, but watching Ebay, NOBODY'S really buying anything anymore...It seems I'm better off just staying with all this Hoard of plastic, I spent so much money on, but now just sits there...collecting dust...people don't even wanna pay retail price for stuff anymore, I dunno what to do!

Finally people start realize toys are for playing and enjoying not an investment. Perfect example is comics in the 80's and 90's.

If I sell toys, it's not to make a profit, but to recoup some of the loss and help bridge the gap. If I need some cash, it's better to get $1 for a figure that I have but don't want rather than having it sit around. This thought process has made me think long and hard, though, before buying ANYTHING. I look at it as "this or that". If I spend $5 on this, then that is $5 I don't have to spend on that.

I play with my toys. I'm making more customs. Darklon needs a few Evaders.

The toys that are geared at adults might fall prey to this contention. But the toys that are geared toward, bought for and played with by children now, will no doubt have similar values of today's toys of yesteryear. It would be hyperbolic to say that you can't put a price on nostalgia, because as with all things, everything has a price. But I think that it would suffice to say that kids of today will no doubt have that nostalgic feeling when they hit their 20's and 30's, etc. and create a demand level that will reflect in price.
I don't know if I agree about the overall price that things are fetching in today's market or, for instance, on ebay. Everything that I see seems to be going for the same or more at times. I do notice more Buy It Nows or Best Offers which could be reflective of sellers realizing deflated prices and setting the price versus allowing it to go to auction and fetching less than they want. I don't know, I really want a Killer Whale, but can't seem to find one that is in ideal condition for a reasonable price.. |

Unless something is really rare at retail (like a clear wraith, or a yellow stalker) about a year out from release, once everyone has one or two already and the scalpers are still trying to dump them, of course no one is going to be paying retail. nah man, those will never get valuable, you should sell them now at 3 a piece. I'll take your freeze frame Weequay for 3 bucks |
