I didn't...I never wanted to sell these toys at all, but then LIFE happened, and I've gotta come up with the green for bills and scripts and whatever...I haven't bought a toy in months, but I still love'em and keep abreast of whats new just for the love of the hobby, and I'm just trying to sell them at cost cause watching ebay makes it obvious that an inflated price is a shot to the foot anyways...but stuff doesn't move, people are doing bad, and I don't blame them cause I'm hurting too, on the other hand I can't afford to practically give away a MIC/MOC Item without consequences...It's brand new in it's card or box at retail, shipping and handling are part of the cost too though...

I sold my entire run waves 1-15 of Marvel Legends, including all variants, from the Toy Biz line back in 2008. I made some decent money. I hated to do it but like cl1ff53c0rd said life happened. It paid my rent for a few months and I began collecting 25th Joes with the surplus. So that was awesome. I agree that you shouldn't buy toys for profit down the road. I collect because I love toys. If I get desperate later I have about 10 different lines I could sell(and save that storage locker money)..................

I've stream-lined the way I collect in this market. I used to buy the hell out of SW, Robotech and Joes, but I've stuck with my roots and gone back to ARAH line. Today I do a lot of trading and sell one item that collects dust for something that I can put in my display case. I have always bought quality over quantity, rare items over common Mint items.
Yesterday I traded thee 1985 carded figures (Lady Jaye, Shipwreck, and a bent card Crimson Guard), and got a mint/loose Starduster, Claymore and Crimson Guard. Is it about the dollar amount? No, but I wanted those figures and the carded stuff isn't me. People want deals right now, it's a traders market because people don't want to part with cash. If you can trade your figures for something that will sell at a higher margin (vintage MOC or boxed toys), go for it. |

the only thing you will ever get profit off of is maybe exclusives and or rare figures that are in demand.
whats wrong with breaking even? its kinda like putting money in the bank and withdrwling it when you need it. its just $10 her and there. no different than buying food, beer or cigaretts. do you expect a profit from such items?

I've been thinking about selling some of my collection, but just to make room for more stuff. It'll help me feel better about the clutter and feel better about how much I'm spending on 'em hahah.
