I agree with this. But we're wondering if he really could have been allowed to carry a bow and arrow set as part of his gear.

Even if he wasn't officially allowed, his unit commanders might have just turned a blind eye when they saw how effective he was with it in the field. Survival and results were more important to the guys on the front. Even guys in Iraq are given some leeway in what kind of secondary kit they carry (like a tomahawk instead of a kabar knife). |

I agree on the effectiveness, and agree with what was said about secondary sidearms.

Oh PitViper, if only I had that kind of class... I could send cupcakes, but man you wouldn't want to eat them. Instead, run from the gas that begins spewing from the icing upon opening, with a recorded sound chip yelling COOOOOOBBBBRRRRA!

Those are the things I kind of figured. Especially him being LRRP, the commanders didn't care about methods, but that the job was done.

LBAM, stop clouding the issues with facts. Stupid comments are supposed to be encouraged and then posted into "Stop me if you've read this shit before"

Umm... wasn't there a draft during the Vietnam war? If he was of draft age, he probably got drafted like everybody else.
And LRRP's do whatever they need to "in country" to get the job done. ;)
