Just wondering if we have any Tankers here that are into airshows and such. We are just a couple days away from Sun'n'Fun down here in Florida and of course we have Airventure in Osh Kosh in the summer and lots of little ones all across the US in between.
I know that I'll try to hit Sun'n'Fun next weekend. |

When I was in the Navy based in New Orleans we used to have the airshow there every year, was always really enjoyable. The funny thing is now one of our old C-130s (BUNO number 164763) is the new Fat Albert for the Blue Angels. I still haven't seen her in that role yet.

The closest airbase to my current location is Scott AFB, so all I really get to look at are the big ol' cargo planes, some helos, and maybe a few fighters.
What I REALLY loved was Airpower over Hampton Roads at Langley. Every year they topped themselves. And nothing- NOTHING- beats watching the F-22 demo team shortly after the Thunderbirds land.

I grew up near Miramar Air Station in the '80s and 90's. I lived close enough to watch the Navy, and later the Marine airshows from my front yard or on the roof. I always looked forward to the Blue Angels passing overhead but all the noise drove everyone else crazy! I used to go every other year or so as a child and less often as I got a job.

I'm a big airshow fan. I go to the DoD open house at Andrews AFB every year, and have been going to Thunder Over Michigan for the last 5 years. Shame that Langleys airshow isn't happening this year. My planned schedule is Andrews AFB, WW2 weekend at MidAtlantic Air Museum, Thunder Over Michigan, and NAS Oceana's airshow. Went to Airventure a couple years ago for work, it was pretty amazing.
