SO here's the question.. if you sell an item of little value on ebay.. and the packaging gets damaged by either faulty packaging or bad mail service, but the item itself is fine despite no longer being MOC.. what do you offer the angry buyer?
A. Full refund and keep the item B. Full refund if the item is returned C. Full refund plus return shipping if the item is returned D. Refund return shipping and send them a replacement if the item is returned. In my personal experience.. i prefer to do C or D. I do not like making people angry with me, nor is it my intention to when I pack the item. Even though the mailing company is partially at fault, in the end if the item packaging comes damaged I feel it is personally my fault. and atlast.. have any of you after offering/doing any of these had a buyer that just was never satisfied? also, it irritates me if something like this happens and bad feedback is left before consultation of the seller.. if bad feedback is preventable i try to do whatever i can to prevent it. In this case, I admit it was probably my fault (sent a CS snake eyes in a bubble mailer due to being in a hurry), and got a very angry seller over bent card corners.. feel free to share your opinions and experiences on any of this

Sometimes I have trouble deciding what to mail a figure in. Escpecially if its on card. I want it to arrive the same way I sent it. Still trying to find the best way to do this.
As far as ebay.....if you offer insurance and they decline.....its at no fault to you. |

In this case, I was in a hurry, I had about 5-6 figures to mail MOC to different addresses, and did not have nearly enough tiny boxes for them. So far of the 5 2 arrived fine, 1 arrived with plastic smashed to the point that it was busted open, but the buyer didnt care bc they were going to open it anyway, and the last had a bent card/corners, the others I've gotten no feedback from yet. However most of these figures were priced + shipped for extremely low.. most for $6.00 shipped.

Tough one. I advertise on my auctions that everything ships in a bubble mailer, very up front about shipping methods. If something more heavy duty is required, the buyer should ask for it up front and we can adjust shipping to accommodate, but hey, I don't sell a lot of stuff on cards.
I found myself on the opposite end of this recently though; bought an item that arrived busted & poorly packed, but the item didn't cost much because the shipping was so high; paid through the nose for shipping that was pocketed by the seller. Was offered a refund on the item only if I shipped it back, but the shipping to return would net out any refund, so a total loss. Scumbag seller went off on me, so now I have a broken item and out the cost of an unbroken one. What a world.

The smallest Priority Mail Boxes (regular, not flat rate) are big enough for 1 carded RoC figure and a bit of packing material. That should keep it under 1 pound and your cost to ship to almost anywhere in the U.S. is $5.05 to $5.55 for priority mail. You can actually get it a little cheaper by doing it online.
Parcel Post will run about $4.90 but then you need your own box. Have you asked they buyer what they want to do?

Now see if thats the case the seller is completely in the wrong. IMO. The whole reason you pay for that shipping is to make sure it doesnt come beat to hell or broken. My shipping on all of my figs was set at 3.00.. however I did not specify how it would be packaged. I guess it was my fault for not specifying the packing details.. however for 3.00 for a MOC item to be shipped.. if I were the buyer I wouldnt even expect a bubble wrapper.. :x
I strictly use bubble mailers for loose figures. The postal service is in to moving things along. This means your item will literally fly through the air several times before it reaches its destination. I currently live in a small town and have watched the employees toss packages (ranging from bubble mailers to medium boxes) 15' - 20' into a cage like container. Carded items unless they are beater cards cannot handle that kind of punishment with only a bubble mailer as protection. If you want to continue sending items in this fashion, add that info to your listings. Better to cover your ass as much as possible.

got a reply from the buyer:
Thanks. But I already purchased a replacement. i will give this one to my Nephew. If you want to "make it up" to me you could always provide me some sort of refund for the trouble. I told him if he sends the item back, Ill give him a full refund plus the return shipping. I dont think its fair to give a refund without getting the item back.
