I wouldn't consider Prince a guilty pleasure. He's genius. Duran Duran is a straight up killer band, John Taylor, their bassist is awesome. Siouxie & The Banshees are legend, the amount of music that came out of that entire scene is staggering. Cinderella was a band I always wrote off as a cheesy hair band back in the day, though I did like a few of their songs. If I go back and listen to "Long Cold Winter" now, they had some really great songs. I don't know about The Bangles as a whole, but Susanna Hoffs was, and still is one of the finest women I have ever laid eyes on. lol

Glam Metal is without a doubt my guilty pleasure.
I have RATT: Out Of The Cellar in my changer right now. I dont care what ANYONE says, there are some RIFF MASTERS in the 80's! Did it look gay as hell? You bet...was the music solid? Bet on that too! I dont think I have any other music that I'm "ashamed to admit" that I like...I'm just not that guy..but I do dig alot of things that I dont think people would suspect I am a HUGE fan of. Here is a list of CDs off the top of my head that are regularly in rotation: Peter Frampton: Frampton Comes Alive Frank Sinatra: The Very Good Years Rat Pack: Best Of Grandmaster Flash & The Furious 5 -Vs- The Sugar Hill Gang: Self Titled Police: Syncronicity, Ghost In The Machine...actually EVERY Police cd. Sex-O-Rama: Vol 1: Porno music from the 70's..some of the greatest bass lines you have ever heard in your life! Time Life: Singers & Song writers of the 1970's: 70's music is just incredbily..."real" 1950's: Richie Valence, Buddy Holly, Bill Haley and the Comets..etc etc...I absolutely love doo-wop and original "rock n roll" Lou Rawls: Best of Motown: Best of James Brown: All the hits and The Payback Elton John: Everything from the 70's--I'm going on record here, me..Mr. Death Metal to say EVERYTHING that man did in the 70's was magic. Rolling Stones: Various Greatest hits Lou Monte: Best Of--hey I'm Italian. Goodfellas soundtrack Cannonball Run soundtrack Smokey & The Bandit soundtrack--Jerry Reed rocks Too many Johnny Cash cds to list Chicago: Best Of ...and more 80's hairspray sprayin', tight pants wearin' glitter, lipstick and 6 string shredding then you can shake a stick at! And yes...I like Christmas music....alot. Now throw your stones!!!! |

OMG! "Round and Round" is the best! NOT just because a HOT friend of mine did a mock-striptease to it for me once either! It's got 2 so-80s-it-hurts guitar solos in it AND it's my go-to karaoke song!
Really bizzarre, but if you've got $1.29 to throw away, look this song up on iTunes. Stephen Pearcy (former lead singer of Ratt) re-recorded this song w/ KRS-ONE rapping over the guitar solo! Even WEIRDER is that it apparently was recorded in 2005! YEARS after the rap-metal boom was over! It's not "bad" for what it is, but it's one of those things that makes you say "...why did they DO this?" |
