a buddy in high school let me open up his ugly ass ford probe gt, got it to about 110.
not that that was super fast, but if you've driven fast at all you gotta give up to racecar drivers. nascar not fun to watch? sure, i get that. not athletes? you're crazy. |

probably about 375 knots (think it was about Mach .76) at FL 310 in a Lear 35, about 160 in a 1987 Trans Am built for competition. 383 balanced and blue-printed stroker engine putting out about 600 BHP feeding a T56 six-speed, feeding into a 2.55:1 corvette independent rear-end. About $20, 00 alone in the drivetrain. Car performed great, wrecked it at about 135-140. Thanks be for roll-cages and six-point harnesses.

118 in my Eagle Talon back in the day. Wanted to push it as far as I could, but saw a cop in the turn-around. Jammed the brakes and got clocked at 89. Only one other time did I try to go that fast again, about 105 on a long, straight stretch of road, but my buddy got nervous I was gonna wreck so I slowed down. Now I don't have the car or the balls to do it again.

140+ that was in a 1988 Trans-AM GTA. I held 110-135 for a good few min, I topped off at 140 and change...immediately after exiting the Garden State Parkway my radiator cracked.
About 125 MPH on a Honda RC-51. I also flew a Cessna SkyHawk 175 a few times and we gauged it at about 150 mph...that is what the instructor told me anyway. It didnt feel like it though. |
