The biggest complaint I've been hearing is about glare - that the screen is almost like a mirror when watching a movie when the scene is dark or when out in the sun. This is a very disappointing feature that I hope gets corrected in future versions.

It's a giant pointless Ipod Touch that's just gonna cost you more money. Most basic netbooks are 300 to 400 less and have way more power and USB ports, built in camera, microphone, speakers, memory upgrades, bluetooth, no need for apps and run flash. They are fully loaded laptops only tiny and with no CD/DVD drive.
The Ipad was made for the web but yet can't run flash. That's like a sports car with no gas in it. Also most new netbooks are being made so they can be used in tablet mode and have touch screens. Also for $90 you can mod your old netbook to have a touch screen. Also I don't need apps with my netbook because it's a full computer. I just download a torrent of what ever comic I wanna read. The pop it into CBR (it's free to download) and then read it. Stream any TV show or movie I want. I can even port it into my LCD Projector if I want a big screen. Or I can play world of warcraft and many many other games on it. Plus I can still used my USB DVD drive. My little Acer Aspire One has everything a fully loaded Macbook Air has but only cost me $300 after taxes. To me the Ipad is just to little to late. It's your money, but I'd shop around first.

I just barely got my first ipod in 2008, still on the fence for getting an iphone, so probably won't get an ipad anytime soon.

It's cool, I haven't had a whole lot of time to play with it, but I am a tech freak! I have to have the newest gadgets (especially when apple is involved). It certainly isn't going to replace my macbook pro, but its a neat little toy. I am looking forward to trying the book store out, I will update you in a few weeks after I have more time to experience it to its full capabilities.

For those mentioning Flash, the way I see it is that they've kept it omitted to keep people from building web-based apps instead of killing the app store and all the developers would be pissed too, as their cash cow would be rendered pointless. Adobe Flash CS5 is apparently authoring iPhone-ready Flash apps but not full-fledged flash support for web sites or banners/animation, because Apple doesn't want to lose their (currently) booming app-development market. |

I'd planned on getting one, but I decided to finally get a Playstation 3 so I could buy movies again. I had stopped as some things that had been released I wanted on Blueray, and I didn't want to buy them twice (as I've done with many movies over the years). I've already got to buy the new cut of Watchmen, so I figure I may as well get it on Blueray.
Also, I decided I want to get the wireless anywhere unit w' AT&T service and I pretty much knew I'd be committing to buy a second once the later models come out. Now I'm just going to wait untill a version comes out with a better touch sensitive interface so I can use it as a drawing tablet as well. That and the ability to load comics onto the iPad are the two big things for me wanting one. I've realized over the years space is more important than comics stored away that I can't get to with ease. I'd love to have the iPad stocked with hundreds of comics and office space back. Mind you, I've been reading comics since I was four, and I love that old comic smell. I'll never stop buying physical monthly comics (and Hardcovers and trades for that matter), but my life would be better and easier with a portable unit for buying and reading comics. I think it's funny how many "Old skool" comic readers are against digital media, even some folks who work in the industry cry about it being bad. Digital comics plus the iPad are going to be great and bring in new readers that normally wouldn't walk into a comic shop. BTW, if you didn't know, I'm VERY passionate about comics.
