I used to be a big paintball guy in early 90's. I organized a work paintball match with co-workers but that was indoors and I like to play outdoors.
How much has changed as far as the guns are concerned? Back then, the latest tech was the 68 special from Tippman which was a semi-auto. My first game was with Splatmasters if anyone remembers them

I dont get out there much because Jim Thorpe PA is a hike for me, but played a bunch of times in the past and had a GREAT time! I have a bone stock Tipman A-5 with a Nitrous bottle on it. That stuff is pretty damn insane, but wow do you go through it quickly..if I'm playing capture the flag..I shoot very conservatively with that bottle. As far as it being a sport or recreation...thats grey area, I mean Bass Fishing has pros and they consider that a sport. If your playing on a "team" like a competitive PB team, yes I'll give it to em as a sport...but otherwise just a great recreational time. Horror stories?...Dont EVER take that mask off, dont ever shoot someone at less than 10 ft...you should be ok. Sometimes balls hit you and yes you're gonna get welts, I used to look like a Cheetah in the shower afterwards...sometimes balls hit you and you dont even know you got it. My 1st time it actually ricocheted off something, and hit me in my throat under my mask...and actually didnt hurt. I wear a long sleeve t-shirt under my Punisher t-shirt...I do wear gloves..getting hit in the finger tips hurts, and other basic stuff. If I had to give you one pointer...get a good, comfortable high quality mask..AND get yourself some anti-fog. |

A friend introduced me to it 2 years ago and I loved it! Just playing with a group in airball or woodsball just gets your adrenalin going! I finally shelled out money to get my own gear cuz rentals sucked. I got a Proto Matrix marker it was decent and cheap. Havent gone in awhile becasue Ive been watching my spending.
Here in the bay area Ive gone to Santa Clara Paintball, The Jungle and I think Sherwood. |

Hmm I never knew there was something like that at all. It does combine 2 things I love.. zombies and paintball so it is definitely something I would try. It would be a strange creepy feeling very different from a woodsball battle where theres alot running and shoutting. And the thing is at night? wow.
I would do it.
