I've been sick for the last couple months. It's mainly been a severe cough, and the doctors have claimed that it was anything from the simple "crud", to asthma, to a bad reaction to medication. Several trips to the doctor and hundreds of dollars later, I'm still coughing and miserable last Friday, so my sarge takes me home and he and the wife convince me to go to the hospital.
The ER doctor tells me that I'm having a bad reaction to medication and to just see my doctor on Monday. Sarah begs him to do a CAT scan of my lungs, but he says its not necessary and sends me home. Sunday, after a miserable weekend of coughing so hard I pass out, I develop an extreme pain in my leg. Sarah call 911 and I get rushed back to the hospital. After hearing all my symptoms, the new doctor agrees there is something wrong and orders a Cat scan and ultrasound of my chest and lungs. They find one blood clot in leg just below my knee and several more in my lungs. I went into surgery early Monday morning to get a camera in so they could get a good look at the clots and work on breaking them up. The started on the lungs, planning to let the leg wait a week to give my lungs time to heal. I spent three days lying on my back, unable to move and getting pumped full of blood thinners, going into surgery each morning so they could check my progress. After the third surgery, the doctor had even more shocking news for me. THE CLOTS WERE ALL GONE!!! Not only were my lungs clear, but the one in my leg was also gone. Apparently the blood thinner worked better than any one expected and completely dissolved them. Now I'm looking at getting to go home this weekend, two weeks earlier than predicted. I know I must be the luckiest b****** alive, I just wanted to share my story with my fellow tankers.

Awesome news! Glad to hear you're getting an early release. Hospitals are horrible places to be stuck.
