I'm posting this on behalf of Roshan...
congratulations to Gunzlingr who won a Terrordrome in Roshan's 1st Annual Cross Continent Cobra Capture Classic contest. if you're unfamiliar with the contest http://www.hisstank.com/forum/genera...sic-ccccc.html sounds like everyone had fun with this contest and I think it's pretty damn amazing of Roshan (and the participants) to go through so much to have a contest that spans the continent... literally. anyways... big up the Gunzlingr ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! enjoy your Terrordrome!!!!!!! EDIT August 4: Well folks it's 8 months into the contest now, and my original private prediction of having 25% of the figures found was pretty close to correct (sadly I might add, just got hide them better, or easier next time round). 48 figures were hidden over the course of the contest (a couple more will be hid in the next two days for the last minute). Figures were found in the following states: Iowa (1) South Dakota (2) California (1) Florida (2) Rhode Island (2) Illinois (3) Indiana (1) Ontario (1) States with figures hidden that did not catch them were: Michigan, Wisconsin, New York, The following people are in the drawing for the Terrordrome this Saturday with possibly more to come. These people either found a trooper, an officer, or were winners of a sub contest entry: Tolan – theterrordrome Tolan – theterrordrome Knomadd - theterrordrome Blade - hisstank Gunzlinger - hisstank Mongoose – non board? 03mach1 – hisstank x-factorz – hisstank JLPython – hisstank Kingofpain – cross board Poptart – hisstank Poptart – hisstank Poptart – hisstank Django – joebattlelines pdaat – joecanuck dodge82 – joecanuck editor – joecanuck harkiri - theterrordrome If I forgot to add you, please let me know, I might have missed one and want to make sure everyone who earned a spot, gets in. Thanks again everyone for participating Here is the grand prize for this weekend (the other three are prizes for the Canada Con trivia contest) OK, I thought long and hard about my contest of putting a super rare figure on a mountain top and have people scramble to get it, and I thought, not enough wealth spread around, and only people close to the mountain or with climbing skill could get to the thing. So instead, I have decided to hold a contest wherein all you need is a car (or a bike, or even a fit walker for that matter) and some sleuthing. I take a lot of road trips and next week I'm going to be driving to Vancouver from Illinois. So for this first installment of the classic, everyone east of the misissippi and the southwest are out. That still leaves 17 states and two provinces. I will be taking a road trip to the Northeast in May and to the central rockies and southwest in July so almost everyone in the continent will have a chance to play. The plot of the game is that Cobra Commander has put troops onto American and Canadian soil to prepare for a coming invasion. It will be up to you Homefront Heroes to find these troops and capture them. Along the way of my trip, I will post clues on the whereabouts of these troops so that you may search out and capture them. There will be at least 10 troops to discover but no more than 20. Now for the technical details. This is basically a geocache hunt without the geo. I will try to give fairly good clues on the whereabouts but I wont have latitude longitude available although I might just pick up a gps unit at the store tonight. The figures that I stash will be in plastic bags and loose, as carded figures will be harder to stash and would get banged up anyway. When you find a figure there will be a code with him. You must post the picture of the figure with the code up to prove that you have captured him. He's yours to keep. Each person who finds a figure and posts a picture of the capture will be put into a drawing. At the Canadian Joe Con I will draw the winning name out of a hat and the winner will receive A COBRA TERRORDROME! No, I am not kidding. I am giving the winner of this contest a Cobra Terrordrome complete with Firebat and AVAC. If anyone has any doubts that I can't back up this prize I have a precedent of this that can be backed up by the Joecanuck crew as I donated a Terrordrome to their con last year (and will most likely be donating a Mobile Command Center this year). Now there's a catch to the contest that can improve your chances. There are regular troops, but each leg of the trip will have one section commander, who is worth three entries into the drawing. I make it three, because he's not as cool to find as an army builder so you get extra chances, but he's equally important to the game itself in the story as far as intelligence goes. I begin my trip Wednesday night February 17. If anyone has any questions on the rules or how things will be played out, let me know here and I will do my best to answer them. All of the contest updates will be done on this thread and I will try to hotlink each new drop in the first post. I hope you all enjoy this little contest I put together. I know I'll have a ton of fun running it A Cobra operative has been spotted in Iowa! CAPTURED! A Cobra operative has been spotted in Sacramento! 5 Cobra operatives have been spotted in the Chicago area! 1 Captured! Last edited by Roshan; 08-04-2010 at 02:23 PM.. |

If things go well with it this year, I can guarantee you I will be planning a European section next year. I usually go to Europe to climb at least once every two years, so if I got a rail pass, this would be an easy trip to book.

I'm really hoping this becomes as epic as it seems in my head. The hardest part is going to be placement so that it can be found by a collector looking for it, but not found by some random person. Although if a kid finds it, that's all good too
UPDATE: I just realized I'll be taking a spring break trip, so their will be one quick mission to the southeast! |
