Things I remember about the past was my mom always chewing my butt out because I was always using her Tablespoons to dig hols in the yard for Joe and Cobras to hide in or a trech base for my figures. I think I used like 20 spoons in my life and she always was asking "What happened to all my spoons?" Then 10 years later she found all of them somewhere in the yard and she called me at college and chewed me out because she never knew what happened to her silverware! I LAUGHED MY BUTT OFF!!! Ah yes... the memories!

Man would that be sweet. Me and the misses often talk about how kids today are so far away from what we had when we were kids. I remember going to the toy store when I was a kid and getting to pick out a toy, and likewise remember (and often miss) when all I had to worry about was which of my friends to play with and who's butt joe was gonna kick.

I love doing exactly that Sam. Remembering the battles I had while looking at the figures, or the artwork. I really wish I could afford some Minty Fresh original boxes.
Sometimes I go online to yojoe or ebay and just look at all the awesome artwork on the boxes, that really brings back the fondness I had for all my toys. Unfortunately I dont have any children in my life that I can share my childhood with, perhaps someday. I am an only child, all my cousins and their kids live in other states and I have no kids of my own. My goal is someday to start a chain of toy/comic stores that would be kid friendly so kids of today can enjoy the cartoons, toys, and hobbies that we love so much.

Crimson lady of the guard: I find it rare to find a woman interested in GI Joe, especially the toys. All the GI Joes I've been collected since the release of the 25th, I remove from the packages. It always takes me back to when I was 12 or 13 years old. I used to pile up all my blankets and pillows to recreate mountain terrain so my Joes could stage on one side of the mountain, while Cobra staged on the other side and then battle halfway up the mountain. And because I grew up in south east Texas, I was able to buy fireworks and would blow up stuff in my parents backyard. Those were the days.

Actually, if I use a knife or any kitchen utensil and dare to go outside with it... I can feel the evil eyes watching me! But now that I have a job and some income.. I may have to buy her some if I lost them!
BOX ART!!! WOW! I really wished we could get stuff like that again and also have the vehicles dis-assembled so we can put them together ourselves!! I know one fact: If they came unassembled, it would be a whole lot easier to apply decals because we can just pick up the one piece instead of the whole damn vehicle!!!! Opening the little baggies, taking the parts from the trees... memories never to be forgotten!!! Well... those days are over with. I kinda wanna break down and cry after thinking about the past! |
