Heres the scoop boys and girls. Ive been trying to sell my Warcraft account for a while. Usually when I throw it up on CraigsList I get bombarded with typical scam spam interested in the account. I ignore that crap. But now I have a guy who kind of seems legit. I basically gave him shit and he still came back insisting he just wanted to buy an account as he's in Guam and cant get one locally. Whatever. I really dont care who, what, when, where, how, as long as I get paid, and the account is gone. So basically what I told this guy is this: Only way I will do business is if he transfers the money to my PayPal FIRST. Once I confirm the money is there, I will give him the login and password. From what he says, he is perfectly willing to go this route.
Now what I want to know is....is this method solid? To the best of my knowledge, once the money is confirmed in my PayPal, its done, right? Thats my money. I just email him the login/PW and Im good to go. What could possibly go wrong in this situation? Im not making a move til I get some advice. |

Well there is the possibility that he could file a claim after you give him the name and password that way he could try to take the money back. I'd imagine the only way you could be sure is if he pays you with paypal, then you transfer the money into your checking account (usually takes 3 business days) then you send him the info. That way I don't think he would be able to file a claim and take the money back
Hopefully someone more versed in Paypal can either confirm or deny what I've said. This is basically just my theory on this |

Ask him to send it as a gift if he is willing. I don't thing you can file a dispute if it is sent that way. Then you save fees and can't really get the shaft, at least I think so.

Having him send as a personal or gift transaction should get you covered. Double check any fine print to be certain, but I'm pretty sure that will take care of it.

Well, to begin with, selling a World of Warcraft account is illegal.. so PayPal won't side with you, and Blizzard will just ban you.

correct, if it's sent as a gift, or personal, he can not file a claim, otherwise, he can claim false representation of the info provided, claim non receipt, or some other crap that is asociated with buying something. if sent as a gift, you should be safe

Lol, isn't there a rule on these boards that says we can't discuss how to do illegal things? The answer is yes because I got hassled for it a while ago. So why is this thread allowed? :/ And damn, a mod is the first to reply to this topic, that just stings even more.
Anyway, do it! Gift-scam that sucka and be done with it, if everything goes well you both are happy, if he decides to take all the stuff from the account and then complain, he'll have nothing to threaten you with. On a related note, I sold a broken Itouch on ebay, the guy got it and is complaining that it's broken. Like, no duh dumbass, I said it was broken in the auction. So now Paypal took $90 out of my Paypal until this is resolved, in the mean time, I have no funds to pay some bills I need to pay, and will probably be charged an overdraft fee by a bank because of this.
