I keep a ballbat by the door, an ASP under my easy chair, a Llama .45 within reach of where my wife and I sleep, along with the knowledge that Ohio is a Castle Law State.

Our bedroom is up the stairs, only way in or out, so good luck coming up the stairs if you're trying to do harm:

hahaha ok then
soooooooooooooooooo, you take the class (and hopefully pass) and then you have to buy the permit which is what, $100? $200? will the permit allow you to skip the purchase permit from the sheriffs office? |

I think every place is different. I'm in Upstate NY, and while it's nowhere near as bad as The City, it's still a complete PITA. Mainly, they've just turned it into a money making scheme, and a bunch of hoops to jump through to dissuade all but the most determined. Big surprise. Where I am it basically consists of writing an auto-biography, paying for the priviledge, and then having to take some BS class. I think, all in all, almost 200 bucks here. However, NYS has a BS technicality where the judge can amend your permit if he wishes. So he can put down that it's only for certain uses, or such. There's alot of headway that needs to be made in this state to get our rights back. Funny thing is, after all that BS, the background check is the same they run on you when you walk in off the street, and buy a long gun. So it's complete bureaucratic nonsense. If the housing market ever turns around, I'm actually thinking about relocating the family to another state. For this and a few other reasons. It's just gotten ridiculous here.

In Pennsylvania a concealed weapons permit is $28.00 and you have to pass the background check for it.
Then you are good to go. |
