2 Bands, 1 country...almost every metal band in some way, shape or form have either given props, ripped off riffs, covered songs or aspired to be like.
Both vocalists are GODS among singers in their own right. Dual guitar assault, HUGE choruses and epic albums... Incredible stage shows, line up changes, reunion tours, box sets and unmistakable album artwork...these titans share alot including a fanbase that is worldwide and loyal to its core. Which do you choose as your favorite? |

IRON MAIDEN!!! Not to take anything from Halford and crew, but there is no debate that Iron Maiden was, is, and always will be the most epic metal band of all time!!!

I cant take anything away from Priest...from Rocka Rolla to Nostradamus it is pure metal bliss.
However, I got my dad to buy me Number Of The Beast on cassette back in the 4th grade, after seeing EVERYONE'S older brother wearing a Live After Death back patch.....that album changed my life. I played drums in elementary band at the time and used to play Run To The Hills on my drum pad, matress and a bucket..... I switched to bass years later and its true...Steve Harris is a GOD. Years later I got to meet the band minus Bruce and Adrian and they were the NICEST, COOLEST most laid back guys you could imagine. No band in history as released that much quality over the years in my book...give me Ed till I'm dead, and with that... Up The Irons!! |

Ronnie James Dio threatend to sue my cousin's band because they were called "Dios"(spanish), which sounds alot like Dio(Italian). Now they HAVE to call themselves Dios(malos). The crazy thing is that they sound nothing like each other!

i had to go with priest bc pain killer was the very first album i ever purchased thanks to my brother who turned me on to metal in the first place. painkiller shreds and is metal at its purist .. honestly i couldnt pick between maiden and priest but since the poll made me i had to go with the album that changed my entire life ..
bc of that album i got to play in bands , tour the country , tour the country with my friends band and meet all kinds of amazing people. Im sure if i had picked up a maiden album first my life would be exactly the same but priest converted me first

I have to say, I never get tired of Maiden songs, I can only listen to Priest so many times before I get bored. |

Me and my friend were debating this last night while watching Live after Death.
Maiden, hands down. The only Priest song I really like was painkiller, and I wasn't a huge fan of the "kicked in the crotch" vocals. Dickinson was more of a natural singer/storyteller which made Maiden (at least everything from # of the beast to Fear of the Dark) absolutely sick. I still get chills every time I hear Fear of the Dark live, 10,000 people humming the chorus in a dark stadium... bah just FING SICK! Best song? Powerslave Best Lyrics? Flight of Icarus Best Music/Technical? Lonliness of the long distance runner Best live song? Fear of the Dark
