Perhaps get some more exercise, rader.
I run close to 3 miles, six days a week, and I sleep wonderfully. Works for me.

I sleep oh about 10-12 hours depending on the time now since my sister moved in with her 2 toddlers that cry and scream at odd times during the night.
I find myself up around 2am-4am watching my DVD Box Sets on closed caption or subtitles... I deal with too much stress enough to drive me mad....so I sleep when I can and when I feel like going off to dreamland...course my dreamworld is a world full of cute neko catgirls... Course now these days I shake now when I sleep sometimes and it's just well [I think it's due to caffeine, plus my nerves are probably over sensative for all I know since I've always been aware of buildings shaking/moving since being in the hospital 10 years ago when they did work on my neck] ....keeps me from sleeping...I know one thing I need to relax more or I'm gonna pull my hair out. I don't pretend I'm anything when I sleep. I just go to sleep because I make myself tired enough during the day to actually fall asleep.

I sleep on average about 4 1/2 hours a night. I wish I could sleep more but my body seems to be on a pattern. Even on weekends I don't get more than 6 or so hours a night. I did get about 8 hours one night recently when I got the flu a few weeks ago. I have so much on my mind that when I wake up in the middle of the night thinking about work or something, it's hard for me to get back to sleep.

this is the key! Have a smoke in the early evening and one later on. Make sure to eat a big bowl of cereal or something and you will be out! Works for me every time!

Find a really fine scotch or whiskey you like. ABout an hour before bed, pour yourself a splash in a small glass, with some water to keep it smooth. Sip away. It will slow you down, relax you and give you the sleep you need.
Todays world is on INTERNET TIME. Update! Update! New post! new post! News! News! Your brain never wants to shut down. But, you suffer if you don't sleep at least enough to kick you into R.E.M. sleep. Do not watch TV before bed, your brain will always be wondering whats coming up next, even while your dosing off. That was my problem. Also, try white noise. A fan is always good. Hope this helps. I sleep about 5-6 hours a weeknight and 7-9 on weekends. I do little tricks to make the sleep count.

OP I would suggest meditation, exercise as someone on here had said, therapy, a porn is actually a good idea too believe it or not, and also reading, especially a really long book, if all else fails then try meds, and if they don't keep you asleep try meds with a glass of wine. Also try cutting you caffeine intake per day. You could also try melatonin supplements, they're not as dangerous as sleeping meds. |

Ever suffer from hypnic jerks? I didnt even know what it was called until, ironically enough, Chuckles mentioned them in one of the Cobra issues LOL. Its where you doze off, your exhausted brain thinks youre dying, and jolts you with adrenaline to wake you up. Then your heart starts racing and you cant sleep, or you doze off and get another jolt. Ive gone through that for years. Started when I got in a bad car accident 5-6 years ago. Screwed my head all up. Arg.
Thanks Chuckles, now I know. And knowing........ |
