I bought a 2007 Kia Sportage brand new a couple of years ago. Two weeks ago my engine blew. I had to pay for it, because I didn't have proof of oil changes. The dealership was rude and they didn't even offer me a loaner car. So $4500.00 dollars later I get my truck back. I have it home for ONE day and it doesn't start. I get it back up to the dealership and they keep it for 3 more days (once again, no loaner car). They call me today and tell me my battery is shot. They want $154.00 to put a new one in. I call a bunch of auto part stores and no one carries that battery yet. A two year old battery shot, really? What a lemon! Now there will be no Christmas at our house this year because of this peace of SH1T!
Just a heads up, a little friendly warning. Stay away from this brand. They claim their warranty is so great, so far their warranty hasn't done anything for me! Thanks for letting me rant.

Did you change the Oil? Did you let the Oil level go down?
Engines don't blow after two years, They blow after one month or 20 years.

Not keeping the proof of oil changes voids the warranty, sorry.
So it's not that the warranty is bad. Sucks, yes, but it's just one of the ways they get you with the stuff. I have a Kia and love the thing. No issues whatsoever. Also, a Sportage is not a truck Pet peeve when SUVs get called trucks. I had the replace the brakes on my brand new Chevy S-10 once, 5000 miles, and those weren't covered by warranty because brakes are a wear and tear item. Also, what Gamble said. If the engine blew after 2 years and I was the dealership, I'd be suspcious. And this reminded me that I need to make an appointment and get my oil changed.

My dealer made sure I would be compelled to changed my oil on a regular basis by giving me a lifetime rate of $13.95 (out the door) for changes. Plus I can read Time, Newsweek and Sports Illustrated while I wait.
My Saturn was about 7 when the engine blew. I never really changed the oil in it. |

I had five receipts and this rest of the changes I did on my own. I don't keep receipts of buying oil and filters (I probably should have) and I will from now on. As far as the whole engine doesn't blow after two years, you can't be too sure on that. They told me my cam sensor went bad. The cam sensor is part of the power train. By blowing a cam sensor can cause problems with the way your engine runs. I did the oil changes and this isn't my first car, but thanks for the vote of support. My wife also owns a kia, bought the same day. I have to replace her brakes and rotors this weekend.
I'm glad your SUV, not a truck is running fine, but there is such a thing called a lemon. I'm not trying to get into an arguement, but come on. People get lemons all the time. There are manufacture errors on anything made, you should know that. I was bummed, maybe looking for a little sympathy because our holiday will now suck. I thought I could vent here. I guess I was wrong...

Getting harder and harder to tell about.
Alot of japanese-owned cars are made in the US. So American Owned or American Made?
