The most likely reason your picture doesn't look good is because you don't have the right cables. You need HD cables for everything you want to see in HD. HD cables include both HDMI and component video (has a cable for each color: Red, Yellow, Blue).
If your tv shows look bad, you must have a cable box, it must have HDMI output or component. If your video games look bad, then get an HDMI cable or component cable (special cable xbox component) for the Xbox, the newer ones have HDMI and component outputs, both of which you have to buy the cable separately. The Xbox may also have a setting to make sure it's in HD mode (720 or 1080), or it may auto detect it. (see Xbox.com | Xbox 360 - High Definition Details) HDMI simplifies life by having both sound and all three colors in one simple cable. Plug in an HDMI cable from the xbox to your TV and you should be fine. Also of note, make sure your xbox has HDMI output on the back, as older xbox 360s don't. |

you'll need and HDMI Cable for your 360 (assuming the 360 is HDMI compatible)
You'll need an HDMI cable for your cable box. (you'll also need to have an HD digital cable box to see the effects of HDTV) You can get these cables at any electronics store.. such as bestbuy. also if you have a DVD or Blu Ray player they will need their own HDMI cable, again as long as they have an HDMI output --edit also here are what some consider the Optimal Settings for the Sony Bavia LCD http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showt...44&post8867644 but judge for yourself

I just recently went through the same thing, buying my first HD ever. You can get the HDMI cable from monoprice.com. About 30 bucks at the store, Monoprice sells it for about 5-7 bucks. And any other cables you may need for it as well. Pm me if ya need anything else....im still new to it, but have learned a ton since I got it.

I recommend using monoprice.com for getting any cables you might need. Don't go to the big box stores and get overpriced cables that aren't really that good. Monoprice, even with shipping, is way cheaper and the quality is good.
