I just moved into our new house in Houston. Lot bigger than the old house plus I have my own room for my toy collection.
One of the things that always bothered me was the amount of dust and dirt that accumulates on my toys. I've seen these ionic breeze machines at places like Sharper Image but they are more common at Wal Mart and Target. They positively charge the air and help cut down on allergens, pet dander, dust etc. The room I have does not have a fan and it can get warm in there. Now I am ok with a fan but I wonder if having one of these machines will also cut down on the dust settling on my toys. What do guys think? |

I'm a fan of the ionic breeze. They dont eliminate dust but they reduce the amount dramatically. Cleaning it isn't too bad, i say try it out for a couple of weeks and if you don't see a difference then you should be able to return it

Huh? These were "hot/fad" a few years back, but then people started to report health problems steming from them.
Google "ionic breeze health problems" Just a FYI, I don't own one... |

I believe ionizing air creates ozone...which isn't healthy to breathe...

When my son was born we got real paranoid since me and his mom both had asthma, so we got a small Honeywell air cleaner. The filter lasted 6 months I believe, and you were supposed to keep it running continuously. If I remember correctly it covered a 10' x 10' room.
It was only around $30--hope this helps.

I'm pretty sure that's incorrect. I work with deionized water which is filtered with ozone through reverse osmosis. It purifies and removes any foreign material from the water. It is used in personal care products to ensure that the water you are using inhibits microbial growth.
The ionization process with these machine postively charges them so they collect more debris in the air (correct me if I am wrong) |

From Consumer Reports:
Settlement in Sharper Image Ionic Breeze class action "In addition, you'd be eligible to buy for $7 (reduced from $39.95) the company's "OzoneGuard" attachment that, claims Sharper Image, "instantly converts ozone to oxygen." As we've previously reported, although the attachment does reduce ozone levels, even with this accessory the Sharper Image Ionic Breeze Professional with OzoneGuard adds ozone to a room and was "as ineffective as earlier versions" and does a poor job of removing smoke, dust, and pollen particles from the air." |
